I purchased 5ft x 20yd if this material to keep in my Film kit for blacking out windows and other light sources. It’s absolutely excellent for that. The material is lightweight enough that it can be held in place by a few pieces of masking tape. It’s thin enough to allow you to fold up a large amount for compact transport. I bought this to use as blackout fabric for auto window shades. The fabric is what umbrellas are made of, very lightweight, both sides have a sheen to it. The silver side color does not wear well. After maneuvering it a few times the silver cracks and dulls, giving it a sort of marble look. If used as curtains where handling would be minimal it would be fine and is actually pretty. It completely blacks out even the strongest light I used for testing. I had no issues with fraying. It did repel water but I can’t say how well it would do in a downpour, particularly if the silver side has worn. It was a fantastic price for what I needed but durability would depend on what application it was intended for. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This fabric is so awesome! It's lightweight and feels like tent fabric. Cuts very clean and easily. If you point the silver side facing outside, it will also reduce heat from the sun on your windows! I bought this fabric to make curtains for my shuttlebus build. All I did was sew 2 inch lace seam binding to the top and bottom ends and I inserted tension rods into the pockets that the lace seam binding created (see pic). This fabric does NOT frey, so I didn't even need to hem the cut ends after I sewed on the lace seam binding. My video was taken at 10am and I was parked in the full sun. The blackout level of this fabric is AWESOME! If I could give it 10 stars I would! I also sewed this (silver side out) to the back of a large drape for my windshield blackout curtain (see pic). It is absolutely 100% blackout in full sun. ... show more
