I have a soft black leather jacket, which somehow was torn a little more than 1/4" in a triangular shape. This kit comes with 2 black tubes of product and one white tube, with a smoothing spatula and a small brush. It also contains a larger white backing material for larger tears. I applied this and it was pretty much dry the next day. I also applied a small amount of backing material under the torn section just below the right elbow of the jacket. The trick, to this, is not to worry too much about smearing the product with the spatula, but to apply it gradually and lightly smooth it out, then leave it to dry. It is important to realize that you can apply multiple fixes over the course of a few days. I waited until the next day and the product had sunk (a little) where the tear was, but around that area it matched 99 percent with my black jacket. I then applied a small amount more of the product, where it had sunk into the tear and if needed, I'll do it again tomorrow. The important thing is to be patient and take your time with the repairs. In this way you will get the best results. You can mix the white with the black in a small container (which is supplied), but all my repairs are with black to black, at this point, so I don't know anything about how well this matches with lighter leather. I'll update this once the final application has been applied and dries, but so far, I am very happy with the product. (12/11/2024)

I used this on my faux leather couch that had some cat scratches on the arm. I did not have to use the white color to lighten the black as the black alone was a perfect match. I wish I took before pictures because you really cannot tell the scratches were ever there. I will say that I did two applications and waited a full 24 hours between applications.

It can be used not only to fill in cat scratches on leather on a leather corner of an armchair, but also wooden legs, plastic computer tower case and anything else black. The scratches on leather upholstery were easy and fast to fill in. The resulted surface was pliable and strong. It dried relatively fast. After a minimal smoothing, it was ready to put paint on it. The paint bonded strong saving the pliability. The filler can be used also to repair soles of dress shoes not worn outdoors, but on wooden and soft floors. A small hole at the bottom of the sole can be filled in in minutes and the filling holds well. Adding thin, self adhesive, non-slip pads or a bigger repair can be avoided for a while. Even smoothing the filling with a sand paper is not needed.

This product is easy to use and does a good job giving me a second chance (and probably more) to wear or use an item that was damaged. I applied this product on a boot that I accidentally snagged on the bottom of my desk and put two noticeable surface rips on top of. After applying one layer of the mixture, I saw improvement but could still see hints of the damage. After letting it dry, I applied another layer, and the rips were no longer as apparent; my boot looked like a regular worn boot not a ripped one, which is what I was hoping for. The kit contained everything that is needed, and the directions and illustrations were easy to follow.

There are not a lot of options when it comes to repairing torn leather. This product produces satisfactory results, the repair looks and feels like leather, and it dries overnight. The only real issue I’ve had is the strength of the bond. If the repair will be strained with future use, you may wish to use leather glue to fix the tear and then use this kit to fill in, texture, and color to conceal the repair.

Kikyo leather repair kit has restored my brown leather couch and a black leather bag I loved that was just worn over many years. I ordered this one to finish off little spots in the bag after my black tube finished too soon. I am definitely a fan.
