This is the 2nd Black Diamond Sprinter headlamp that I have purchased and have been extremely pleased with them. The first one - I have owned it for 4 years, used it anywhere between 5-12hrs a week every week, and it held a very good charge and both lights (front and back) stayed bright throughout its entire life. I used it mostly for running, but also hiking, camping, and endurance events. The only reason why I had to replace it with this 2nd one is because I lost it. SMH. One gripe with the first one is the plastic where the top strap attached to the back light broke. I gorilla glued it back in place and all was well. These hold up well to various physical activity, are waterproof, and are VERY easy to use - the one-tough quick brightness adjust is great while you are on the move. I have used these on trails and have had no issue differentiating between rocks, roots, etc, on the ground that others have complained about (due to 'blue' light wavelength in the headlamp). These can easily be used without the top strap if you want to wear them over a cap or whatever, for the top strap is removable. It is nice to have the red lights in the back, especially if you run on/near roads. The more lighting back there the better. Overall I have felt these are great value and the battery/lamps last a LONG time. ... show more

I bought this as a backup headlamp for a 50-mile trail race I ran a week ago. I started off with this lamp since people were still clumped together, and I didn't need much light. The LED element of this light is way too blue, and it washes out any color on the trail. Leaves and rocks all look like one giant grey carpet. The light output was okay for the first couple hours at medium strength. When night fell later in the race, I dug this back out to see how long it would last. I got about another hour out of it before it started dimming and flashing unexpectedly. The battery indicator showed over 2 bars (3rd blinking). It lasted a total of about 3-4 hours. I swapped to my Petzl Nao and immediately kicked myself for not breaking it out sooner. The light quality is no comparison (and should be for the price!). I'll hang on to this for a bit longer for use on the local sidewalks, but I'm not sure I'd ever trust this light on a race again. If it keeps acting spastic, I'll ship it back to BD. ... show more

This is the best headlamp for runners on the market that I've found. This is my third version of it, and this one is significantly brighter than the previous version. Not sure why someone said it was less bright...I pulled them both out and compared in a dark room and it was no comparison.

I ran with this product three times. The battery will not hold a charge. Because I do not run at night often, the 30 day return policy had already expired. I could not recommend the product or the seller.

Lots to like about this headlamp if it worked reliably. In order to charge the battery I learned I needed to remove it, wait ten seconds, then reinsert. I used it daily for one hour runs. Worked fine (less the battery issue) for a few weeks, then it began arbitrarily shutting down mid run (leaving me stranded in dark woods). Fully charged battery and even back up standard batteries and no combination of button pressing could bring the thing to life. Company needs to refine this thing. I bought this as an upgrade from a previous version of this same Sprinter headlamp (I think it was 225 or 250 lumens). In comparing the two headlamps in a pitch black room, this headlamp (Sprinter 500) is noticeably less bright than my 4 year old Sprinter model that has half the advertised lumens. I’ve had two prior Sprinters and both were amazing. I’d skip this one though, it’s getting returned. Update. I bought the 275 lumen version of this same headlight. Noticeably brighter than this 500 lumen. I'd go with that one. ... show more

Piece of junk. After one charge cycle and 3 runs, the rear led no longer works. Pressing the button doesn't turn the it off. Similar issue has happened on 2 different units regarding the rear button. This is a hardware defect or this headlamp isn't designed for running.
