We just got a new puppy and needed something that can spot clean without the hassle of having to plug something in. This does a great job at cleaning a small spot. Suction is decent, obviously compared to a big vacuum or a plug in, it's not as powerful but the convenience factor outweighs the suction. it's light enough to use quickly. emptying and refilling is a breeze. ONE BIG downside, not enough to downgrade a star, is you really can't keep a the reservoir of solution in the vacuum because it will leak out! I don't know why but it does tell you, you can't keep it on it's side or laying down...you have to balance it standing vertically!! I now just store it without the solution pushed in. Other than that, it's quick, convenient and does a good job cleaning and drying a small area, if you have a larger area, get bigger vacuum. I hope this review was helpful! ... show more

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this item. If you have pets (or kids) this little tool is a must have. It works perfectly on short nap carpets. Some of the reviews complained that it didn't deep clean but that is not what this tool is for. This cleans up the mess so life can go on. The faster the mess is cleaned up the less chance of staining. Its my go to between seasonal carpet cleaning. So easy to use. Holds a charge for very long time. ... show more

    • Works effectively if you use it right

Used this unit as soon as it arrived on a couple of "puppy stains" on stairway carpet. The biggest selling point to me about this unit is that it is super easy to assemble, disassemble, clean, and reassemble. As other reviewers have said, it has woefully short battery time, but as it is a spot cleaner, it shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to clean up a single spot. Anything that takes more than 15-20 minutes probably requires a larger cleaner and not a unit like this. Also, it doesn't have the best suction power, but again, it is a small handheld cordless unit. I've found that the best suction is achieved when you tilt it *forward* on the carpet to get a good seal for the vacuum nozzle, which is actually on the front lip of the unit rather than underneath or behind the brushes like a traditional vacuum; if you experiment with it you will find that it does suck up the liquid even on medium-pile carpets. The included OXY formula is ok - it worked well on the spot itself - but can get a little too "sudsy" if you spray too much of it. I would suggest pre-treating the spot with something like Nature's Miracle, and then just filling the reservoir with a bit of hot water plus a splash of the OXY formula. That's what's given me the best results, anyway. Overall: worth the price and convenience of being small and rechargeable for spot cleaning. Again, if you want actual *carpet* cleaning you're better off getting a stand-up carpet washer for larger areas. ... show more

Don't even think about getting a pet without buying this first! I give it 5 stars not just for being cordless and light but it will even remove the very tough stains that can occur if your pet has taken medication. It's so easy to grab when accidents occur. Even though I have other machines, this is the one I grab most often because it's so convenient. It also removed black mascara from my white bathroom carpeting.     • Several models later, Bissell still can't get it right

I ordered this to replace the corded, bulky, and difficult-to-clean Bissell I have been using for the past several years. I loved the suction power of my old Bissell, but every time I used it the smell of old pet urine would make me gag. I was happy to see this newer model, because it was cordless, less bulky and looked like it would be a breeze to clean (no hose). It is definitely all of those things, but the only thing it's really NOT is a vacuum. My usual method for cleaning up a pet urine stain is to suck up the stain first, then spray on the cleaner, then work it in with the scrub brush, and then suck up the entire thing again. When I tried to use this (fully-charged) vac for the first time, I noticed that it barely made a difference when I made that first pass over the pee - with my other Bissell, it would sometimes be hard for me to figure out where to spray the cleaning solution after making that initial pass, but with this new model it barely sucked up anything, about only half of what was on the floor - and I have low pile carpeting, not anything super absorbent like shag. I would observe the urine going up through the nozzle but a lot of the liquid seemed to just kind of hang out in there and did not seem to make it fully into the vacuum. I even double checked to make sure that there wasn't some kind of cap or plug that I had needed to remove first that might be blocking the suction (there wasn't). When I turned the unit off I had to be careful to hold it upright so that the pee didn't drip back down through the nozzle and end up on the floor again. I also had a problem with the dirty water collection cup. Deciding that I was definitely going to return this item, I drew a small amount of mildly soapy water (1 1/2 cups of warm water with 2-3 drops dishwashing liquid) in a bowl in my kitchen sink so that I could run it through the unit and follow up with clean water before washing the collection cup and packaging it up to return. About 2/3 of a cup into that process, there was a terrible farting sound and dirty water came shooting out the back of the machine all over my clothes and my kitchen. The dirty water collection cup holds an incredibly small amount of liquid, and unless you are closely paying attention and you are holding the unit up to clean it (not pointed down) you will be treated to a shower of pet urine and soapy water. Now I am back to using my old bulky Bissell. Maybe at some point in the future Bissell will figure out how to make a quality machine that checks all of the boxes in terms of portability, suction and ease of cleaning, but they definitely missed the mark with this unit.
