These shoes have the fit and feel one would expect from Birkenstock. Excellent quality, good construction, very supportive. It did take me a few wearings to adjust to the toe piece, but by the third wearing they were fine. I suggest you wear them for short periods of time at first, which is what I did. This is different than my experience with other Birkie's which require no breaking in, but now they are very comfortable. I love the onyx color, which is sort of an iridescent gray. Birkenstocks Gizehs are my go to sandal for summer and this was a replacement pair, though in a new color Onyx. It is a dark, silvery blue-grey color that works with my outfits. The sandals fit great, slightly wide for the regular shoe, though they do offer narrow widths as well. I find I usually take a US 8 or Eu 39, but for Birks I wear a 38. Comfortable and supportive. The thong attachment at the front does take a little getting used to though, and I need to "break it in" every summer when I start wearing the sandals. Small inconvenience for a short period of time, then I am happy with them for the rest of the season. ... show more

These are good sandals. They're comfortable, but not for walking in all day in my opinion. I work with kids, and I also cannot wear them to the playground and run around in them for hours (but that's not what they're made for). I'm happy walking around the city in them for a few hours a day. I hit the pavement really hard, so I've been told, and they provide good support for my feet, but not enough for my back. I think if you don't have any back issues they are comfy. They are not the most attractive, but this is a nice neutral blue color, so they go with anything. Had for a little bit, they are durable and fit really nicely. Great product, I used them for multiple summers and I do alot of walking.

Definitely took a while to break in, but now they fit great, and I get compliments every time I wear them. Be wary of walking too far in them, particularly at first. After a couple weeks of owning them, I wore them all day for the first time. I walk as part of my commute about 3 miles a day. Around mile 2 I realized that I was getting blisters on the bottoms of my feet. I ended up calling for a ride home, which delayed my getting home by about an hour. It's a few weeks later now, and these sandals and I are getting along much better now. Ease into them, for sure. I find them extremely comfortable now, and very versatile. They can easily be both casual and formal, so they're really great in a lot of situations. These are actually my second pair in this style. My first one was in brown leather, which I recall having a little more flexibility to the leather when I first got them. I have the onyx now, and I really like the metallic sheen they have. Once you break them in, you might not need another pair of shoes all summer. ... show more

I've been wearing Birkenstocks for decades and needed to replace a pair that was over 10 years old. I searched the web and found a fantastic price on a new pair - almost $30 less than I had originally paid about 30 years ago. Update: This was the first non-leather top pair of Birkenstock's I bought that had man-made material on top and both of them have cracked. I continue to wear them because they're so comfortable, but since my experience with these two with man-made tops I only buy leather-topped ones. ... show more

    • Stylish but not comfy for my flat feet.
These are very stylish for Birkenstock. I love the silver blue color which goes with just about everything. The shoes look good with long linen slacks with wide bottoms and long flowing skirts. However, I feel I have to warn all flat footed people out there that these hurt like hell when I was breaking them in. I felt like I was walking on sharp rocks. There were so many times I considered throwing them out, but they were expensive and too cool looking to not give them a chance. Years later I can finally wear them without wanting to cry after 15 minutes but they are still not the first shoe I think of putting on if there is any amount of walking involved. ... show more

    • Amazing Support and a steal of a deal!
Birkenstock's offer the greatest amount of arch support to anyone looking for a great sandal. The sizes are European so if you wear and 8-8.5, size 38 will be perfect for you, but if you wear a 7-7.5 I would go down a size to size 37. If you do not have any shoes with arch support, there is a short adjustment time on Birkenstock’s (your feet will be sore the first few times wearing them, as your feet have to get used to the support), but as soon as your feet adjust, these will be the most comfortable shoes you own.
