Took the plunge and bought the birkenstocks. The older I get, the more my knees hurt and can't tolerate buying those cute pieces of cardboard you get at Target. They feel so good and look not too midwife birkenstocky - you know what I'm talking about? Very happy with my purchase. Hopefully I won't have to buy sandals for a couple of years now- which I was doing anyway when buying those poor quality cardboard sandals that pop up every summer season. However, I wouldn't trust these on my vacations where I encounter lots of water sports, water-related hiking, or walking in the water with sea urchins waiting to bestow my built up bad karma. Let me start by saying I wear a 10 in every shoe under the sun. So I ordered these in a 41 and they were huge!! I mean they had over half an inch in the toe area when my heel was positioned correctly. I sent them back and ordered the 40. They fit the way they should. I have a wider foot But the regulars fit fine. I have only had them on for about an hour, they kind of hurt but I have heard you that need to slowly break them in. I will say the piece between the toe is hardly noticeable. So far I am happy with this purchase, I think I will adore them once they are broken in. ... show more

I find the Birkenstock Gizeh style overall runs a little small as compared to the Arizona and Florida styles. I have medium width feet, (not wide) but on me, the Gizeh are definitely narrower and I had to size up one size for length also. I take a 39 in Arizona and Florida but needed a 40 in the Gizeh and even then, I have them buckled on the last hole in the strap. If my feet were any wider, they wouldn't fit at all! This is my first pair of Gizeh and they are comfortable (although I haven't worn them out of the house yet) but I probably would not purchase this style again. These are great looking sandals, the oiled leather is really nice and I would say these are 5 star Birkie's if you have a narrow-to-normal foot. If your foot is a little chunky, I'd try a different style. ... show more

I was having a hard time wearing flat flip flops all day at work (I'm on my feet all day). My back and knees were hurting every night when I got home from work. I decided to order the birkenstock gizeh to offer support to my extremely high arches. Boy are they amazing!! I can wear them all day and night. I can even take long walks with my dog in them. I loved them so much I got another pair. I don't have any pain in knees or back anymore. My high arch is supported 100%. There was about a half day of ever so slight discomfort between the toes but nothing too bad. I have VERY sensitive feet so this could just have been me. ... show more
