I owned a pair of these back when I was in high school and I loved them so much I wore them down to the cork and then some. Recently my boyfriend mentioned that he wanted to purchase a pair because he tried on his brother's birks and found them to be really comfortable. We both ordered a pair online and we love them so much that we even where them inside the house. According to the Birkenstock website, narrow is a North American equivalent of normal so if your width is normal order the narrow. The sizes are true to size so you can't go wrong ordering online. If you're unsure of which size to order, order the smaller one. I'm usually a size 7.5-8 and I ordered the 7-7.5 size (38). The soft footbed is great for me since I have flat feet and now I wonder why it took me over 10 years to replace my first pair. This is my third pair of the Arizona-style Birkenstocks. I just love these shoes. So comfortable, so convenient to slip on. I know they are ugly, but I have decided to take pride in their appearance and make it a fashion statement. Not much to say about them... sandals, right? I do find that I don't like walking around in them in bare feet for long periods. Maybe it's the suede on my skin starts to rub? But if I'm doing something where I don't care very much about appearance (like running errands with multiple stops), I will put on a pair of socks, ratchet the buckles down a notch, and throw these clodhoppers on my feet for a very comfortable escapade. I used to wear Birkenstocks a lot, but because I work in a kitchen, my feet need to be completely covered at work. I don't have the opportunity to wear the sandals all day, but I think they'd be comfortable for long wearings. The reviews online helped with my selection- I might not have ordered the narrow width without other customers input, but I'm glad I did. ... show more

These were my first pair of Birkenstocks and I had no idea about that kind of foot I have other than it is extremely narrow. I looked at other comments that suggested sizing down, so when I normally wear an 8-8.5 I bought a 7-7.5 (38) size here. They fit just great. I think the large size would have fit also but not as well as these do. The footbed feels amazing, although the arch on the left foot was a bit higher than the arch of the right foot (although my feet could also be different sizes). The right shoe fits perfectly to my foot but the left hurts a bit and I have to take breaks at times. The narrow fitting is great. Overall, I am totally in love with these shoes. ... show more

I couldn't resist buying these on sale. I love Birkenstocks--I wear a 7 1/2 narrow and have a high arch. I own 2 other Arizona narrows and 3 Florida narrows--all with soft footbed. I use the older ones as slippers. It is easier for me to walk with these on my feet and they give me support--barefoot just doesn't feel good for me. I have arthritis in my hip and have had surgery on my spine and ankle. Birkenstocks were recommended by a physical therapist. Couldn't do without them!! I wear them on the tightest notch and if I have socks on, they are great slightly looser. ... show more

Sizing was off. I have worn a 38 N for years and have had no problem with my Birkenstocks. I ordered these thinking I would try the soft footbed. Well to my surprise my toes came right to the end and my heel barely fit in the heel cup. Sent them right back. I'm afraid to order next size up They may be to big. I will have to go to my local store and try on for a good fit. ... show more
