I've worn Birkenstocks for more than 40 years. I own three pairs at a time: one for going out; one for around the house; one for working in the garden. As each pair ages, I pass it down to the next level of use until the sole of the garden pair has worn all the way through (this process takes a number of years!) and then I toss out that pair and buy a new dress pair. I wear no other kind of shoes. I love the support, the ease of use (they slip on; they grip; they slip off only when you want them to!) and most of all the comfort! DAYS LATER: I just now read all the negative reviews. . . . .No, these are not the same as the original Birks, but they also don't cost as much. I have no problem with the straps, or the fit (contrary to the reviews by other users), or the indentation, etc. etc. I've been wearing my new pair for several weeks now, and still have no complaints. I chose these BECAUSE they are cheaper than the other Birkenstock models, so I did not expect the same materials. They fit great, however, and I would buy them again (barring any unforeseen developments. . . .) ... show more

I like these and they fit fine, just ordered the same size I always get, however, the way they "grow" I ordered the narrow's this time. As time goes on the strap seems to "grow" and you have to add holes and sometimes cut the strap off to fit. However, I have washed them thoroughly, got them soaking wet, and since we live in Arizona, just throw them out in the sun to dry and they are as good as new. Hate the way your foot "footprints" the insole though, that is not attractive over time. They could eliminate that by making a black insole, but they don't do it. And it won't wash off either. I thought these were nubuck but they aren't. A little disappointed by that, I expected the nubuck. Also don't care for the black buckles. Would be prettier with bronze or whatever they normally use. I will use them, though, they are fine. ... show more
