I owned a pair of these many many years ago, so I may be misrembering or the materials have changed, but these seem really poor quality for Birkenstock. While the leather does say it is synthetic and not genuine, I own an inexpensive Lucky Brand pair that I bought for $20 that are eerily similar in quality. My son asked for these for xmas and the first ones I got where a size too big. I exchanged them and one down were perfect. Definitely measure the foot because the size he got originally should have fit. He enjoys them so that's what counts.

It took a little while to break in, but for the most part they are comfortable. Not sure why, but my foot rubs the side of the sandals a bit on one foot, which makes it a bit uncomfortable, but after a few weeks they broke in so it fits good now. Have a little patience and these shoes will become perfect for your feet. ... show more
