My first pair of Birks had leather straps and as a man with hairy feet, the leather would always pull on my hair. I put up with it because the footbed was so comfortable but I literally developed calluses. These Birks with synthetic straps are SO MUCH more comfortable! They have never pulled on the hair of my hobbit man feet, plus they have the same amazing footbed that you can stand on all day without any discomfort.     • Best sandals I've ever had for high arch plantar fasciitis
I like the arch support and the under the toe support. They seem well made (still have some of that German craftsmanship that made Birkenstocks the most popular sandals in the USA for decades). The width is just right for me, as are the arch support. I recommend going to an outdoor/sporting goods type store and seeing if you can try some on to find your size. If they don't have your size, look online as I did and, in my case, not be disappointed! ... show more

I clicked on the size I needed, 13-13 1/2. Didn’t really notice that once in my cart, they were labeled as 44. I received a 44 and returned because I needed a 46. Make sure you pay attention to what actually goes into cart. Tried this for a few more items and some show up as 44 and others as 46 in cart. ... show more
