  • Well built materials
This router bit is well built and super sharp. Works great.

  • Nice and sharp
I always get nervous when I use these larger bits but this one worked without any wobble and cut nicely. It showed my CNC needed just a bit of tramming but that's not the bits fault. Great bit.

  • Very Sharp, Very Flat
This drill bit is well machined, with no burrs or voids. It didn't appear to need sharpening. I used it in my router, in the router table to make long smooth channels , and edges on shelves. It worked perfectly on blck walnut, ashe and maple hardwoods. Then I used it in my drill press to try and level some flat boards and found the cutter angle too aggressive for all but the thinnest shaving. Anymore and it grabbed, then seized up my drill press. Granted I might need a bigger more powerful drill press, but I have forstner bits that don't do that. it worked better in my more powerful router. ... show more

  • Leaves a better surface finish than my other cutters. Storage box is disappointing, though.
I'm using this surfacing bit to level the particle board work surface that I use when woodworking on a metalworking CNC milling machine. Since my spindle speeds are not nearly as high as those of a typical router-based CNC machine I have to keep feed rates low, and having the four carbide tips improves the surface finish over the single-tip fly cutter that I had been using previously. I would probably prefer a 1/2" shank diameter and a larger cutter diameter too, but the little added time that it takes with the smaller cutter doesn't really matter if you can resurface while doing something else. On my sample the carbide tips are sharp and well aligned, at least for as long as I can avoid hitting any of my spoilboard hold-down screws. The product seems cheapened however by the poor quality storage box that it comes in. Even for $20 I think you could expect better. ... show more

  • Good sized bit for the price
You can tell that this surfacing bit is cheaply made in comparison to some of the others i have bought in the past, but it is still carbide tipped and seems to work well in MDF for surfacing. The 1-1/2" diameter is great for cutting down surfacing time, but can't be pushed as hard as some of my other ones. It also came in the worse/cheapest packing of any that i have ever bought. I generally like to keep my bits in the plastic sleeves that they come in to protect the edge from being banged around in my tool box, that is not an option with this one. ... show more

  • Facing and Grooving Cutter for the beginner to pro
Not using for CNC, but still an effective little facing tool to remove finishes and thick paint layers. Also, will make good channels in edge grain for jointing which is what I intend to use it for on smaller pieces. We'll see how it holds up over time and if I can make a jig safe to run board faces across safely without catching. ... show more

  • Works as advertised, but you want a half-inch router
This bit works as advertised. But if you want to use it on a router, you're going to need a powerful model with a half-inch collet. The smaller routers with quarter-inch collets probably don't have enough power for this bit.Don't even think of trying to plane hardwood slabs using a router sled with a quarter-inch router. ... show more
