Does a great job, you need to have lead in it to make it sit right on the stand but other than that it worked great, it melts lead pretty fast and is not to heavy to handle even when full.

    • I bought it for my bug out bag.
Its hard to use and keep the temp stable as well as cast molds. Sure I can do it after casting thousands of slugs. But if I were you, Id by the lee melting pot, for your first. Be sure to use proper safty gear, and ventilation, or you will die from lead poisoning inside 2 years.

Although the cost is twice more than my first one I love this one. I do not have a health safety issue on this one. It doesn’t smell bad like my first one. It is way faster to melt the lead and it can still melt the lead maybe at least 5 minutes after you unplugged the power. It is also easier to pour your melted lead into your mold. ... show more

After a couple times it started shocking me. I cannot see where it would have a short but still melts lead pretty fast.

Works great once heated. Takes longer than advertised. Takes some getting used to, since it's heavy and the lead may not come out from the sides when pored.
