I used the whole entire five links. I had to get the tallest because I'm 5'7 and my knees were bent the whole time I was riding my bike. I put this on a gravel bike I have and so far it is doing exactly what I wanted it to. It raised the handle bars just enough that now I don't have to crane my head up to see where I'm going. I have neck issues as it is and by raising the handle bars now I can ride more comfortably. Just take your time and experiment with the different rings until you get what you need.
