Features

  • Silent Motor OperationThe TMC2209 is an ultra-silent motor driver IC for two-phase stepper motors.Voltage output capacity ranges from 5V to 28 V. It can operate bipolar stepper motors from 1 to 1/256 step modes. TMC2209 uses StealthChop2 technology for silent motor operation.
  • Sensorless HomingThe TMC2209 incorporated StallGuard technology to detect alterations in the motor current and use this measurement to detect the end of an axis' stroke and produce 3D printers without limit switches.
  • Dynamic Current ControlThe CoolStep technology allows the TMC2209 to control the current dynamically, reducing the heat generation of the stepper, which in turn diminishes the need for cooling.
  • Supports UART, STEP/DIR ModesBIGTREETECH 4PCS TMC2209 V1.2 UART stepper motors support UART, STEP/ DIR Mode, except that you need to modify the firmware for the mode you use.

Description

Product Introduction:TMC2209 is an ultra-silent motor driver IC for two-phase stepper motors. Its continuous drive current is 2A and peak current is 2.8A. Compared with TMC2208, the driving current of this IC is not only improved by 0.6a-0.8a, but also this IC increases the function of locked-motor test. This IC Have Some Patent Technologies:SpreadCycle (highly dynamic motor control chopper)StealthChop2 (ultra-quiet technology)MicroPlyer (microstep control)StallGuard4 (locked-motor test)CoolStep (current dynamic control) Product Advantages:The motor is difficult to lose stepsUltra-quiet modeThe module has a large-area cooling pad,it can lower the temperature when drive is workingThe module can prevent the motor from shakingThe module support locked- motor testThe module support STEP/DIR and UART mode Matters Needing Attentions:Before installing the drive, make sure disconnect the power supply to prevent the drive from burning out. Before installing the drive, user must confirm the drive direction, to prevent back connection caused by the drive burning.Do not plug and unplug the drive module when the device is working in order to avoid damage. When user install the heat sink, make sure the heat sink is not connected to the pin. We need prevent driving short circuit.Pay attention to the wiring sequence and I/O port when wiring. If the wrong line is connected, the driver will not work directly, please connect carefully as shown above.

  • Not in full SPI-driven mode
Despite the driver being advertised as SPI working mode, you cannot actually drive the motor via the SPI interface. This is because while the SPI_MODE pin is high, SD_MODE is also tied high to it's neighbor pin, VCC_IO. You configure the driver over SPI, but need to drive it exclusively with step/dir pins. This was not reflected in the item description. ... show more

  • Get to Steppin!!
Style: 1*TMC2209 V1.2
Ender 3 Pro + SKR v1.4Turbo + TCM2209 Stepper drivers = 1 Awesome Printer! compared to the basic Ender 3 Pro steppers, these are 1 hell of an upgrade! You go from EeeEEEeEEeeeE sounding movements to Wooooosh Wooooooosh hahahhahahha Read the instructions carefully, you may need to cut a pin off the driver board. Easy tho. The included heat syncs really do a great job as well. I've run a couple prints, lasting a few hours, without having the lid on my components case, so no fan... Never had the printer shutoff from overheating. As long as you update you firmware correction and using a compatible board, these stepper drivers are great! ... show more

  • Another one Not in UART Mode
Style: 4*TMC2208 UART
I ordered UART mode to avoid having to do additional soldering, but I still received the standalone version. The soldering pads are very tiny. Hopefully my hands will be steady enough to solder them without breaking it. I understand mix ups happen, but this is annoying.

  • Amazing upgrade for my I3 Mega
Style: 1*TMC2209 V1.2
I ordered 5 of these total to upgrade the stock drivers in my Anycubic I3 Mega (previously upgraded with the Mega S upgrade kit). Now the machine is so quiet that when I started it printing, I thought the extruder wasnt working at all. The ONLY noise coming from it now is the fans, and I have upgrades in the works for those too, as well as some MOSFETS for safer power to the hotbed and heater. ... show more

  • Not in UART mode
Style: 4*TMC2208 UART
From the description, it's hard to tell whether these come in "legacy" mode or "UART" mode. The manual says that they come both ways from the factory and that the UART mode ones do not need J2 configured for UART mode. These come without J2 configured! BigTree-Tech expects the buyer to install the .4mm solder blob that's partially obscured by the preinstalled pin headers. ... show more

  • Good btt stuff seems to work well and their customer service is decent.
Style: 4*TMC2209 V1.2
Got these as spares for my btt skr 1.4 turbo boards.. have been running my printers pretty hard lately and like spares on hand, zero failures to date though so these will probably just sit on a shelf forever.

  • The right driver for the job
Power in a few Nema 17 drives, these motor drivers do the job way better than anything else I have used. The heatsinks stay cool to the touch when running. My other drivers burned my hands after running for a minute or two. They are also night and day quieter than most drivers. I will be buying more for future projects. ... show more

  • Great combination with SKR 1.3 main board!
Style: 4*TMC2208 UART
Always wanted to upgrade to the Tmc drivers. Bought a SKR 1.3 from Bigtreetech and never looked back! Print quality is excellent, and the sound level is reduced. I have to look sometimes to make sure the printer is still printing. Will use these driver sticks again for future upgrades.
