Everyone who knows me knows that I love my regular BIC pens. I am a pen and paper nerd and have tins of pens and paper. When it comes down to the very best BIC pens are the best. I love the blue. I love the way they fit in my hand and I love the way they help me write. I will also put a pencil drip on my pens and if you haven’t ever gave this a try. Then you should! You missing out!     • I Won't Be Ordering These Pens Again

With nerve damage to my hand I need adaptive ergonomic tools to help me write. And I love to write. Well I had the opportunity to buy a pack of 24 BIC CRISTAL XTRA SMOOTH BLACK 1.0mm medium Ballpoint pens & a 24 pack of BLUE ones as ADD ON ITEMS. Unfortunately while the pens do write smoother then some, even when I press harder I still don't experience anything close to how well the BIC CRISTAL XTRA BOLD BALLPOINT PEN (1.6mm) writes. I will not we using these pens. I will make them available for my friends and students to use. I already feel my hand hurting from using these pens, unlike when I use the XTRA BOLD (1.6mm) which Glide across the paper. I just need to move my hand to the right & cursive writing is effortless. The packaging was poorly done as well. All the black pens had fallen out of their smashed box while the blue ones remained intact in their box. I tried to return the unopened box of blue pens but Amazon would not allow it. Maybe because they were an ADD ON ITEM, but in actuality I don't know why. If you all looking for a basic medium point pen that is cheap as an ADD ON product this item just might be for you. They write with a little prompting and continue until the ink is gone. With transparent barrels you can see how much ink you still have remaining. If you have no problems with your hands these pens should present no problem for you. ... show more

So I had a random BIC Crystal pen that worked very well for me, which I included in my picture. This one is about to die so i tried ordering some backups as these were offered as an Add On Item. These do not hold a candle to my other one. I am not sure they are even crystal as it is not printed on the pen like my old one, so if you did not have the box you wouldn't be able to know anything but that they are a blue pen that do not write very well. Disappointing as now Amazon wont even let me return them. do yourself a favor and buy these at a brick and mortar store. They at least will stand behind there product when you are not satisfied with it. The box looked open as well when I received it, so who knows maybe someone is putting plain none crystal pens in these boxes and selling them for a slightly higher price. ... show more

These pens write smoothly, just gliding across the paper. In ease of writing, they do not quite equal gel pens, but they are close --- surprisingly close, and they are extremely low cost. I ordered these, and a box of the Extra Comfort pens. I can't tell any significant difference in the writing quality between the two for the short, note type entries that I make with them --- both are great--- but I can surely see and feel the improvement in tip drag and continuity of the line between either BIC's and the selection of generic hand out pens I had been struggling with. I do believe there may be a slight improvement in fluidity with the BIC 1.2 mm tips compared to the 1.0 mm tips, but again, if any it is not very much. Conversely, I don't see a lot of gain in comfort for the Extra Comfort pens for my use, but it might be there for more continuous use. For general purpose, intermittent writing, one could spend a lot of money and not beat the performance of these pens. For continuous, intensive writing, the relatively small barrel size of these (actually a hexagon cross section) might lead to hand fatigue compared to a more expensive pen with a larger barrel size. Personally, I don't think these pens are necessarily intended for extended continuous use, and have not downgraded them because of any discomfort that may or may not occur with sustained writing. Also, I think these may come with a tiny bit of seal, probably plastic, on the tip to keep ink from drying out in the ball mechanism. Pulling the tip across paper at a very flat angle while rotating the pen will clear anything that might be present, and prevent traces of grit from getting into the works when one starts to write. ... show more

I purchased this pen for 2 reasons: 1) I needed a pen that was not gel ink and 2) I only had gel ink pens. My disdain for gel ink pen stems from the fact, that in my experience, gel ink pens are messy to write with and must dry before moving on to writing something else. I wanted a pen that did not require so much "maintenance" and I found it with this pen. As expected, this pen works like a charm. There is no more wet ink when writing or waiting for it to dry. After four attempts at picking up a usable pen from the drawer I decided to buy a pack of new. I really just needed some disposable quality pens for quick notes and check writing. The comfort is what you would expect from a thin ribbed plastic pen, a bit awkward but fine for short term. I thought they required a bit too much pressure to write with. However the ink flow was even and and consistent across the paper, and this is more important to me.
