First, this thing is a project in itself. You've got to dedicate a few hours to this thing if working on it alone. Not to say it couldn't be done faster, that's just how long it took me working casually. Also wanted to note that I was indeed using a power drill for certain parts. This bookcase is filled to the brim with books and such, I've been debating ordering another one to evenly spread the weight, and possibly add a home audio system for a more enjoyable reading experience. This dark wood will surely attract attention in your home. It breathes fresh air into an era chock full of technology. What makes this product unique is probably the craftsmanship. Compared to other bookcases on Amazon this one is by far the strongest. (Not the most strong I'm sure, but definitely up there.) I would definitely purchase this again if need be. ... show more

Works for what I need it for, and looks good when assembled. I don't have a lot of confidence in how sturdy it will be longer-term should it need to be moved, though (not really a concern for me. The odds of me moving this in the next decade are slim.) The pin-and-cam assembly uses pins that expand when the cam is tightened, rather than having pins that screw into place, and I would have liked a bit more cross-bracing with the side pieces not being continuous (there are upper and lower side pieces which join to the fixed shelf.) I'm also not too crazy about the way the front moldings attach (plastic angle brackets that are a pain to get aligned correctly.) But, pretty comparable to other shelves I've bought in this price range otherwise. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. These two arrived earlier than expected. I ordered 2 from a different seller. I'm a 72 year old woman and I put them both together in about 3 hours time. I'm handy like that. The instructions lead you by the hand, step by step. If you pay close attention, piece of cake. The backing stabilizes the entire unit and with books on the shelves, you cannot tell its heavy paper. It has taken me 2 months to get my office wall up and organized but we are very happy with how it looks. A bit pricey for the product, though. ... show more

    • Functional, but not pretty
I searched everywhere for a decent priced bookcase. NO SUCH LUCK! This is medium density fiberboard (MDF) and can come apart easy if two people aren't handling it. The instructions were pretty good, but what they really should have included in the instructions is to have the bookcase elevated so you can work from both the top and bottom. Trying to get some of the screws working from above was tough and I'm pretty savvy when it comes to building or constructing things. The pieces didn't match up and you can see the MDF on both sides. I thought I had made an error in centering, but no it was just how it's made. For the price, you would hope for more symmetry and for pieces to line up with one another. ... show more

    • Feels Heavy Duty - Definitely a Job for 2
At first, I was very confused when the box for this arrived as it was dramatically smaller than what I expected. It was very heavy, however, and definitely required two people to carry it anywhere which made me realize that it was in fact the right product. Assembly was very straightforward, and aside from little screws that are hard to see during one part, it was one of the easier projects I've assembled (especially considering the size of the bookshelf). With two people it took about 45 minutes to completely put together - inlcuding the safety wall bracket (which was a welcome touch to help endorse safety). Overall it looks beautiful and appears much higher quality than the cost would suggest. I'm beyond happy with the end result and will likely buy this exact model again if I'm ever in need of an additional tall bookshelf. ... show more

This is not your average flat box DIY assembly bookshelf. The fit and finish is good. High quality hardware. Nice trim facia. The design is excellent overall. Assembly is very doable, but takes a little problem solving, as the instructions were written from a CAD station rather than someone putting the shelf together. There were a couple steps that were head scratchers, but it all got together. High quality hardware. Nice trim facia. Well first of all my first package was shipped incorrectly. An investigation is being done but I got another one shipped to me right after. I just had it sent to my work place. That's what I'll do with all my shipments from now on but anyway they're really responsible. The product is great and easy to assemble. My cat even helped! 😸I really just appreciate the company actions to fix things. I didn't show the entire bookcase cause I have a lot of my manga in them along with my cooking books. 😅But it looks amazing and I recommend using a drill slowly even if the manual says not to do it. Have someone help out too. Great product recommend it out of all the options in Amazon. (Late review cause I had the flu 😷 but better late than never. ) Much love!❤ ... show more

    • Easy to assemble.
The instructions were clear so it was easy to assemble. The only thing that I had trouble with was getting the cam covers to go on the hidden cams. They just would not "cooperate" so I left them off. Once the books are on the shelf, the hidden cams won't be visible anyway. The bookshelf looks great and will well serve the purpose for which I bought it, ... show more
