    • Inexpensive, practical, cool looking, but super-thin desktop material and complicated build.
I bought this as a secondary 'cheap' desk to go in my studio for normal computing tasks. THE BUILD: Mercy sakes. There are so many different screws to build this desk. I've built a lot of 'furniture' items in my life, and several this year as a Vine reviewer (Note: this one was not a vine item - I bought it). I don't recall ever needing this many different types of screws and fasteners to build something. A good engineered design uses a lot of consistent screw sizes and styles. For many people, this will get confusing. HOWEVER, if you take the additional time to follow the instructions CAREFULLY, you'll get this built successfully. It took me about 90 minutes to complete which in my opinion is about 45 minutes too long. THE DESK: It's pretty cool, but that doesn't mean stout or strong. I have no problem with 'pressed board' or particle board since almost everything you buy and assemble these days is made from it. What I am not happy about is the thin desktop board. It's really too thin. The entire desk is 'beefed up' with various supports, most of them metal. This will help. But any heavy impact on the desk surface, say an accident where something the size and weight of a gallon jug of water were to drop on it, I would bet it would crack the top. No one should ever consider sitting or standing on it. There's lots of small places to put things which I like, and the incorporated power strip with USB is very practical. THE LIGHTING: Great for kids, but offers nothing in the way of lighting up what is under the monitor shelf. No color or mode of the light works for me. I don't intend on downloading an app just to change the color. What I do plan on doing is replacing the light strip with one that just produces a warm white light. OVERALL: If you aren't afraid to take on the building task and are certain you don't need a strong desktop, this desk may be for you. The price is decent, but minus one star for the mass variety of needed screws and super-thin desktop material. ... show more

Don't usually struggle with furniture assembly, but this one was annoying. Directions were somewhat inconsistent, really specific in some places and really vague in others. Had to disassemble 3 times.

Well aside from not liking puzzles or reading instructions I managed to get through this one. I went from a glass desk top just big enough for 2 monitors and needing a separate surface for my computer to this setup and I am honestly surprised how well my set-up works with it. I do wish their was a better setup for wire management on the backside but I can look past that and deal with that another day. But all in all it's a great desk. It fits my computer, it's very sturdy and works great for a gamer. And no missing parts actually came with extra screws and downs . ... show more
