Description

Ideal for sensitive workpieces and right angles. The large, perfectly parallel jaw faces are characteristic of the original BESSEY K-body clamp. They allow easy clamping and spreading of sensitive surfaces and right angles. Also round and pointed workpieces. And the best thing is: thanks to their extra-large contact surfaces, the original BESSEY K-body clamp are universally applicable even behind and to the side of the high-quality profiled rail. This allows you to clamp in locations that conventional screw clamps are unable to reach. That's guaranteed! The K-body clamp holds workpieces exactly parallel. Parallel jaw faces with extra-large contact surfaces.Clamping of various shapes, along the whole length of the rail.Universally applicable.Light and easy-to-handle.No need for tools for switching between clamping and spreading. Your benefits at a glance:1 Parallel jaw faces. The large, planar jaw faces made from impact and fracture-resistant reinforced polyamide are exactly parallel. For gentle clamping of a very wide range of different shapes over the entire length of the rail, without spacers. 2 High-quality profiled rail. The BESSEY hollow profile rail from our own drawing plant has been especially optimised for clamps. The profile acts as a reliable reinforcement against torsional forces, while the serration prevents the clamp from slipping. 3 Removable end stop. The end stop made from impact-resistant polyamide also gives the clamp added support. It can be removed without any tools, to allow the lower arm to be quickly turned around and used for spreading. The Bessey UK60 has the following: Clamping force up to 1,500NOpening 600mmThroat depth 80mmRail 20 x 5mmWeight 0.93Kg UK60 Uniklamp Capacity 60cm

Size: Capacity 60cm
I use these clamps almost exclusively on drawers and small cabinet construction, even though I have a full set of the heavy-duty Jet parallel clamps. These are MUCH lighter, which matters more and more as I get older, and have sufficient clamping force for most of what I make. Occasionally, I’ll find there’s a hitch in their giddyup- but I attribute that to my not cleaning built-up glued off the bars. I wish they made 30-36” versions, then I would probably never use my big clamps. ... show more

  • Poor quality offering from Bessey - a shamefully bad shadow of the K-body.
Size: Capacity 60cm
I'll cut to the chase: these are a pitiful excuse for a Bessey product, more like something you'd find at Harbor Freight. Honestly, I'm amazed to be giving 1 star to a Bessey clamp, but these are just awful, in my opinion. I have 10 of the larger k-body clamps (I wish I had 100) and find them very, very useful, reliably giving strong, even pressure. The ones I have are all long and heavy, however, and that makes using them awkward for what I bought the smaller Uniklamps for - namely, for hold-downs and clamping evenly across the face of a bentwood lamination. The reason I hated these, and I had bought 10, so it wasn't just a single bad one, is that the action is incredibly jerky. They don't clamp when you want, they don't release when you want, sliding the clamp head along the bar is impossible to do smoothly without using two hands and paying way too much attention... These hateful scraps of plastic just don't compare to the k-body clamps at all. The clamp head is a plastic cover ONLY without the metal support structure of the k-body clamp, so durability is very suspect. That's right - the part of the clamp that makes it "parallel", that engages the ridged metal edges of the bar is plastic and only plastic. The grey stuff you see in the pictures has NO metal substructure to it. The plastic is grabby when you want the head to slide, then perversely slippery when you're trying to get it to set, and then when you've managed to actually clamp something firmly, you release the pressure and voilá - the head is stuck fast and requires two hands jiggling the whole darn thing to get it moving again. Take the head off and pass the bar through a dog hole in your bench - you get to struggle to get the head back on because the metal lever arm and the plastic cover aren't joined in any firm manner, and then grit your teeth as you have to do it again, when the bar suddenly slides all the way out and drops through the table while you're trying to put the little clip back in to keep it in one piece. I had to struggle to keep my temper, they were that bad - they would literally have had a hard time being more difficult if they were actively trying to defy my wishes! If you're doing light duty work (maybe clamping eggs?), won't be putting any real load on the clamps (like, how much pressure can you put on an egg?), AND can always have BOTH hands to futz around trying to get the damn thing in the right place and performing (because maybe your eggs are held in place by another, more reliable clamp), and don't need them to be reliably durable (because there's very little call for clamped eggs these days, after all), then these might be just what you need. Otherwise, avoid them like the plague, says I. ... show more
