I seem to get about 20% longer casts using this line than my old Tuff line XP. And that line casted well. I also use this line on my saltwater spinning rods in the 20 lb size. I have not bought line like this in years. Just read reviews on Amazon and choose this Berkley X-9 braided line to respool three reels for halibut fishing in Alaska. We took a 68lb, 64lb, 52lb and 30lb fish with no failures. Every time we reeled it back in it never tangled or frayed. The 64lb fish ran me into the jet pump on the motor and ran it about 30' rubbing the housing the entire way. No frays or breaks. I would highly recommend this line. Based on reel spec, should get 1000m of this braid in the reel, only managed to get 880m.. maybe reel not accurate or the braid shaped not round enough.. anyway 880m is more than enough for my fishing style

While fishing with it immediately after purchasing and lining my reel, it seemed to break easier than expected for 80 lb line. Tested a piece and it was breaking at well under 50 lbs. When I got home, I tested a 10' piece straight from the leftovers on the spool that had never been used yet and was still inside the house. It also was breaking at just under 50 lbs. Not even always at the knots. Sometimes just in the middle. I've been fishing for 40 years and with plenty of experience tying various fishing knots, so it shouldn't have been breaking there that easy either. My buddy bought some near the same time for the same trip and tested his as well with the exact same results. Not sure if we got bad batches or what, but we won't be buying this again. The spool of 80 lb I got had lumps and loose strands randomly through it and the weave was coming apart in the thicker sections. Check this stuff carefully before/during spooling, or just find a better product. I'm going to try something else to avoid more frustration
