  • WOW!! What an AWESOME monitor/experience!
Full disclosure.... The Monitor I purchase was from Amazon Warehouse, in "New/Used" condition...BUT.... it has the updated firmware installed, that solves the flickering issues this monitor has been plagued with. Not even a hint of flicker. Initially I was very hesitant to spend this kind of money because of the reported issues.... but when I read of the firmware update on the monitors being sold through Amazon Warehouse... I pulled the trigger. I'm glad I did. OK...now to the rest...This monitor just arrived today, and all I can say is WOW! Coming from another brand, 32"/VA panel, curved monitor to this one (this is an IPS panel), and this one literally blows it away in terms of just about everything. After installing the monitor on a VESA/arm mount, I installed the drivers and the color profile from the Benq website. This is the best image quality and color accuracy that I have ever seen "out of the box" for any monitor. Generally I've had to spend a lot of time/effort calibrating new monitors, and even after calibration, they usually left a lot to be desired....but this one was correct, out of the box. I tried to calibrate it, and could not make it any better then it came out of the box. I am particularly impressed with the contrast and brightness on this particular monitor. As I write this review, I have the following "User" settings..... Brightness: 70, Contrast: 50, Sharpness: 5, Red/Blue/Green: 100, Gams: 2.2, Hue: 50, and Saturation: 50. This image quality absolutely gorgeous! Viewing angles are far better then expected....in fact I could never see myself needing the extreme wide viewing angles of this monitor....but it nice to have. In order to run at 60hz, you need to use the Display port/cable. I tried the HDMI ports/cable, and the Hz kept resetting itself to 56. The power cord is identical to those that power your PC..... no big "box" transformer" to worry about. I suspect that's why this monitor weighs in at a hefty 18 pounds (without the stand). Other great features are the built in SD card reader, built in USB ports (two up and two down stream), and the cherry on top is the BenQ "Display Pilot" software. (Make sure you download the most current drivers, Color Profile, and Display pilot software from the BenQ site. ) The "Display port" software allows you to run the OSD menu from the desktop. There is also an option upon installing it, to have it appear in the context menu (right click) which is super handy if you need to adjust your monitor for various scenarios. OK, if you're picky about aesthetics, then there isn't a lot for you to be excited about. This monitor is plain black and dark gray plastics. It has approx. 1/2 wide bezel on the top and side, and about 3/4" bezel on the bottom, which also contains a sensor in the middle for light level detection, when using "eco" mode..... and is fairly heavy (the aforementioned 18 pounds) None of that means anything to me.... for me it's all about the image quality/usability, and this monitor has impressed me with that. The bottom facing power, and USB ports are a bit annoying and difficult to hook up once the monitor is mounted on a VESA (which is how I mounted it), but it's not a big deal because I'm not going to be uninstalling and reinstalling it all the time. The Display port, mini display port, and the HDMI ports are located on the right side of the monitor (as facing it during use). And, unlike most other monitors, this one has a power on/off switch right next to the power plug... gotta turn that on or the monitor doesn't come on! :) About the only real "con", is the speaker quality....while they can be loud, they are horribly "tinny" sounding. It really doesn't make any sense to build a $700 monitor, and use really cheap/tinny sounding speakers.... but it is what it is. I have external speakers, so no big deal for me. I've never seen any monitor speaker(s) that could even come close to a cheap set of external speakers anyway, so IF you choose to buy this monitor, and don't already have external speakers, toss down another $25-30 for a basic set of external speakers. I did not look at, nor rate this monitor "for gaming" because I do not game at all...this monitor is for web design, phots/video editing, and general productivity use. Now, if it has longevity.... I'll be a VERY happy camper. If anything changes, or pertinent info comes to light, I will come back and update this review. If you're considering this monitor, and are on the fence, I'd say go for it, with one caveat..... look it up on Amazon warehouse ($664 versus $699 new), and ensure you buy one with the updated firmware....otherwise I suspect you will experience flickering. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
In the ad they stated that some wear and tear should be expected, since this was a used item, fine! I went ahead and bought it anyways thinking, well, what can possibly be wrong? Decorating in the back buttons? Well, this item came impeccably packaged, but it was BEAT UP! Metals bended, seriously deep scratches, digging real deep into the plastic frame. Dings and dents all over, specially in corners. Resume, not happy about this purchase. ... show more

  • Pricey but very accurate for design/graphic art while compatible for gaming
Got this for my daughter who does graphic art and gaming. She now has the best of both worlds, but a bit of a challenge to configure.

  • I own two of these monitors and at the 3 year mark the light bleed makes them unusable for graphics
Terrible quality control. These monitors both started light bleeding and make them unusable for high-end graphics. I don't even want to give these away. They're probably going in the trash. $1700 down the drain for the pair.
