Though to be clear, these curtains are of a lighter to medium weight - they are not heavy velvet - which is fine for my use. They do block light. They washed up beautifully on a gentle cycle using cool water and then I dried them in the dryer on a lower heat setting. Came out perfect, no wrinkles or shrinkage. Not black out curtains, but does a good job. I feel like the light showing through in the photo isn’t as visible in person. They have a soft luxurious feel and a good weight/durability to them. Easily washable. There are 2 different pockets to slide the rod through. The top pocket is tight on a 1” curtain rod. Mine are in the second pocket, leaving a cute ruffle at the top.
