  • Pretty Impressed
Color: Woodland Green 6061-T6 Aluminum - Cerako...
This is the first Benchmade knife I've owned, so there's no fanboy bias here. The overall fit and finish is top notch. This thing feels so good in your hand it's amazing. It's very lightweight, but also is very sturdy and has no blade wobble and everything is perfectly aligned. The open/close action is smooth as butter, and the Axis locking system works exactly as expected. The factory edge on my particular knife was extremely sharp; was able to cut through thick plastic wrap without even exerting any pressure... just kinda lasered through it. As I use it more we'll see how good the edge retention is. The only negative thing I've noticed so far is that on the Woodland Green 6061 aluminum model I have, the anodizing when new was kind of a matte finish. But carrying in my pocket that matte finish is quickly wearing away to more of a traditional smooth anodized finish. Not a deal breaker, and hopefully with more use it'll end up an even texture across the entire handle. But right now there's some spots that are smoother than others. I tried getting a picture of it, but it's difficult to get one that clearly shows what I'm talking about. I'll try to update this review in the future since this is something that I'll be carrying / using on a daily basis. Hopefully it'll live up to the hype. ... show more

  • Flawless. Very happy.
Color: Woodland Green 6061-T6 Aluminum - Cerako...
Am glad I spent the extra cash on this and not the original bailout. Nothing wrong with the original, but this knife is exceptional. The shade of green they chose for the aluminum handle is really nice. Is like a bright olive. There is texturing on the handle for some grip. The M4 blade, the grey coating is really nice, has a stonewashed look to it. Which is beautiful. The basher/window breaker is nice and thick, which I am a big fan of. The knife is very lightweight. Same pocket clip as the Bugout I have. Opens and closes as should. Is centered when closed. Tip is even. Edge grind is even. No wiggle when open. All edges are smooth. No scratches or flaws. Is hair shaving sharp. All the stuff I can pick on is in great shape. Is really a super good looking knife. Is very light and slim. Am very happy with my purchase. This is not my first Benchmade. Is my 14th. Among around 80 folders. So I have alot to compare to. For the steel upgrade, awesome green aluminum handle, and thick basher is definetly worth the extra cash. Can't wait to take it to work and show my knife buddies. ... show more

  • Great knife no bs just facts
Color: Black Grivory - Cerakote Finish
Cons Plastic handle Pros Handle is perfectly constructed for strength and light weight Easy reliable instinctive lock that has only gives trouble if you flick open as hard as Superman Duel hard points for versatility love the non serrated edge option personally cause it’s my main gut knife while hunting and it’s skinned moose dear coyote fox beaver skunk rabbit squirrel and a few others with more capability then any other knife I’ve had. Treat it with common sense and care and it will last a life time but like every knife it has it’s limits only limit I’ve found with this being my third (my fault using the knife as an axe on the first and trying it as a pry bar on the second when I had no other tools.) But I won’t leave the house without it so much so I keep a spare on hand Incase I gotta do what I’ve gotta do ps both broken knives still got the job done and did not catastrophically fail both could still fold proving it’s amazing design that’s stupid strong with just enough give to keep working even damaged. I don’t think I could give a good enough or better review just a great knife ... show more

  • OK For EDC; Maybe Not Tactical
Color: Black Grivory - Cerakote Finish
The Bailout is a pretty good Everyday Carry knife. It's lightweight, reasonably tough, and CPM-3V is a great steel for EDC as it is hard but also resistant to impact damage. The only problem is: 3V is also susceptible to rust (all steel is; even Stainless, but 3V might be a bit more prone to rusting than, say, S35VN). It's considered "semi-stainless" and in my experience it's vastly superior to high carbon steels in terms of corrosion resistance (I have a Japanese kitchen knife that rusts if you look at it wrong), but if you live in SLC or spend a ton of time at the ocean with your knives you might want to consider another blade steel. I am a knife junkie and I own (and love) a Bugout, which is why I was so interested in the Bailout. Benchmade is clearly building on the Bugout's success here. The handle is a little larger and more ergonomic for my hand. The Tanto style blade isn't my forte but a lot of people swear by this blade shape. The coating on the blade is really tough. But I don't happen to love the aluminum pommel sticking out the back; it adds bulk with no benefit for me. If you are suffering from knife addiction, reading my review won't matter and you are probably already checking your tracking # to see when your Bailout will arrive. But - if you are a regular person looking for a nice knife for every day carry, I would say buy the Bugout instead. The blade shape, size, lack of pommel, etc., is going to be superior for the types of cutting tasks most people are going to use it for and it costs less. Plus, it comes in really nice colors (I'm a sucker for blue knives). ... show more

  • Very comfortable
Color: Crater Blue 6061-T6 Aluminum - Cerakote ...
It’s a beautiful knife and has a thin functional blade. For a knife collector like me definitely a joy to have. But it can not handle abuse like the 940. If you are not a collector and need one every day carry the get the 940.

  • Most disappointing
Color: Crater Blue 6061-T6 Aluminum - Cerakote ...
To start out, I currently own 21 other Benchmade knives. I like the colors on this knife, the ergonomics, action and lock. Main flaw for me is the blade is so ridiculously thin you can almost see it deflect. I am considering returning it for a refund. Price charged is not warranted
