  • A good buy for the fatheads among us.... with some forsight involved that is.
Most Important Things: 1. I have a large head. I'm on the XXX/XXXX curve and generally no larger. 2. Big Jaw required some smaller Bell cheek pads to fit properly 3. After thats done, this may be THE most comfortable lid I have EVER OWNED. 4. Nice deep ear pockets for rider intercom tools 5. Despite being midtier cost, its very high value for the money. 6. It came with a clear and a dark shield! 7. With small adjustments, I am VERY VERY VERY happy wiht this lid. Critisims: 1. the slot down shades are a little wonky to operate, but work. 2. the silver highlights are not retro-reflective. Here is the long version: So I have a big, round head and a large jaw, so that makes fitting helmets a little weird for me. Always has. Add to that I sometimes wear glasses! So, modulars are my go too over the last several years. I ordered the 3X unit, and from another vendor, the 20mm cheekpads along with the 2X halo. FIRST OFF, THIS COMES WITH A TINTED SHIELD AND A CLEAR SHIELD. I missed that each time I read the description (dont know how) but it does. The stock 3X cheeckpads are too tight for me, but might be perfect for some. I tried the stock ones for a week, and it just wasnt comfortable, they were too tight and werent wearing in enough. I added the new 20mm units in and they started out tighter than the stock, but after another weak broke in just right. Turns out, I didnt have to adjust the halo, that was dead on. As for wear and feel, it seems like its a little noisy, but not bad. My bike has an adjustable windshield and when I pust it up 100% things get nice and quiet. Yesterday was a good warm day, so I got out and rode for a bit.... and I forgot to open the air vents. WHen I did it was like ICEWATER pouring around my head, it was GREAT. This suprised me as I never noticed cold air being an issue in the earlier months. I also chose to pair this helmet with a photochromatic face shield. That was maybe the iceing on the cake... I had been using the slot down shades and they are kinda wonky... I dont like the "feel" of their operation, its not very positive in opening and closing. I had a Full Face Harley modular recently that was a solid mechanical connection, which operated GREAT. This one I think is cable operated and you can feel the slacki/slop during actuation. I find the silver on black pattern very understated and attractive. (black gets hot though kids, remember that) My only wish is the silver highlights were ALSO retro-reflective. I would have paid ANOTHER hundred bucks NQA if that was an OEM feature. It would make a good helmet stylish AND nighttime visible. WIN FOR EVERYONE!!! Unrelated Story: Shout out to Bell Helmets. During research I tried calling the number listed on their facebook page... which was wrong. It was just some dude! Poor guy had been getting their calls for TWO YEARS. After a couple weeks of pestering via email and FB IM, they were able to get their marketing team to correct that issue for the guy and get the right number up. SCORE ONE for the powersports community, taking care of people is EXACTLY what a Helmet Manufacturer should be in the business of doing, and they did. Will buy Bell products again! ... show more

  • Noise level
Color: Matte Black Size: Large
Firstly, the sizing runs a little on the smaller side. I ordered the Large helmet and when it arrived, it fit like a medium. Too snug for me to enjoy the ride. After reaching out to Bell’s customer service department, excellent folks by the way, they helped me to select the correct cheek pads to properly size my helmet. Next, I was surprised to see how loud the wind noise level was after taking several rides. In most of the reviews, they comment on how low the noise levels are and that the helmet is very quiet. That is not my experience. I have had to close the top vent altogether. With it open, it sounds like I’m in a wind tunnel. The helmet materials are very nice! I love the thickness and clarity of the clear visor. I ordered the dark smoked visor and it is made similarly to the clear. Another disappointing fact though is the pain it takes to switch out the visors. Not the easiest to do. I have other modular helmets from other manufacturers and theirs are a lot easier to replace. Even with the minor setbacks that I’ve had, I still rate this modular helmet very high. Love the fit and finish and quality of materials. Maybe a future design would address the visor mechanism and the wind noise from the top head vent. ... show more

  • Bell srt
Color: Ribbon Gloss Black/Red Size: Medium
I ordered the medium and the fit is spot on. The modular is a great helmet to be able to open for extra air or to talk at stops to other riders . Also surprisingly lighter than I had expected.

  • Pretty Good for the Price
It’s a great looking helmet, fits me well and build quality is quite good with a couple of exceptions. First, the exterior. PROS: The graphics look fantastic, the shield has a great fit and snaps firmly. The button to open the lid is easy to find and the lid snaps shut easily. Also, when you open it all the way, the lid pops into a groove that keeps it from accidentally shutting on you. CONS: To really get the full value of this helmet, you’ve gotta drop another $150 and get the Panovision Protint Shield. It’s the one that’s basically like Transitions lenses for glasses—it’s clear at night and automatically tints during the day. The built in drop-down sun shield is just not dark enough by itself to effectively darken your view on a sunny day. The Protint combined with the drop-down is pretty perfect, in my opinion. Another con is that one of the rear vents eventually came loose on my helmet, and now it’s kinda buzzing while I ride. I thought a friggin’ bee was in my helmet! Lol. I’m gonna need to fish out the vent with a hook or something. Maybe I can glue it back in place, I dunno. Now, the interior. PROS: It fits me well. I bought a small, and my previous helmet was a small GMAX GM54S modular. I’d say the fit is similar. The Bell fit me tightly at first but broke in nicely within a few weeks. The chin strap is good, has a snap which is nice. However, the fabric tag pull to disengage the strap is worthless and frayed to bits within a week. I made my own out of a strip of leather and some small rivets, and it’s held up great. Wind noise is decent—not great, not terrible. You can wear glasses with this helmet, although it’s not perfect. They’re in there pretty tightly. The shield optics are clear and non-distorted. Again, get the Protint. CONS: The side cushions have a leatherette finish on the bottom that started to disintegrate after about a year. They’re replaceable, so I guess it’s not a dealbreaker, but still. That’s another $30. All in all, it’s a pretty great helmet, especially if you can find it discounted. I think I paid like $150 or so, which makes it a steal, even with the extra $150 for the Protint. ... show more
