I ordered this helmet according to the sizing chart on the bell website and it is way too tight I suggust getting a size up. The cheek pads are killer on the face too you can't even open your mouth cuase you'd bite down on your inner cheeks. When I free myself from this helmet my ears felt like they were just folded into an origami sculpture. I also had an issue with installing my Pactalk with not being able to slide my battery pack into the helmet due to vents being in the way and since my ears are being crushed I couldn't imagine my speakers fitting although there is a recess for speakers. ... show more

It's a nice helmet that comes with the Protint that makes the shield activated by UV. It's a nice feature but it doesn't get as dark as it should be. If you are in direct sunlight, this won't do much, believe it or not. I see what they tried to do with the neck snatch, but I still think it's a poor design. My cheaper LS2 has a way better system in place. The overall quality and look of this helmet are good. Shouldn't be this price point at all. I've bought several helmets in my motorcycle experience and I found this one overpriced. This is my first Bell experience and wasn't super excited - decided to give it a try. What can I say, it took me almost 6-weeks to make this purchase. I reviewed so many helmets. The fit is perfect; the vision is optimal; the weight is unnoticed; the visor is great (still purchased a dark silver iridium). The irony of helmet reviews, is you never want to be the rider to attest to it's safety. Should the event ever occur, I have complete confidence in Bell. I absolutely LOVE this helmet - it is a work of art. The helmet is probably the best I've ever owned, even more so than the Shoei I use for touring. But being a race helmet the fit is too tight for my cheeks. Fits my head perfectly but too tight in the cheeks. I also, why they sent a red bag instead of yellow is beyond me (yellow hi-viz helmet)? This is an excellent light weight helmet that seems to do everything well. The fit is snug as per previous posts...so you may want to go up a size. I wear a Med Shark Race-R Pro comfortably, but with this helmet I had to order a LG. The LG fits great, and even feels good after installing my Cardo Pack JBL speakers. It may be a bit nosier than my Shark helmet, but not by much. It seems to cool well, as I wore it yesterday while riding in upper 80's lower 90's temps, without getting overly hot (riding a 2016 Honda CBR1000RR SP). The helmet does not buffet or move around on your head at speed, and does a good job of staying in place. I do like the MIPS technology that Bell puts into their helmets. If you don't know what that is...watch a couple of You Tube videos or reviews on RevZilla, and you'll understand. The photochromatic shield changes quickly from completely clear, to a decently dark rose colored tint. I wish it got a little darker...but it definitely works well enough.     • Great helmet, very tight fit...
I really like the helmet, it's just crazy tight. Went to a smaller size after my last bell became to loose after less than a year. It's only a problem when taking off the helmet. Literally gave me cauliflower ear. The smaller cheek pads helped, but didn't solver my issue. Just have to be very careful when I pull it off. Good luck getting any response from Bell, been ignored by them for over a year. Guess it's time for a new helmet brand... ... show more

I purchased a Moto Flex and loved the fit as well as Bell quality so I was committed to trying the new Star Flex. The fit is slightly larger than my Moto Flex so I stepped down a size (XL in Moto Flex and Large in the Race Star Flex). I love the field of view and lens quality of the photo chromatic shield. Fit and finish beat my prior Arai and Shoei road helmets. Bell delivered a quality product which beat my expectations and Amazon generously allowed me to exchange an XL for the correct fit. I only wish my local stores would carry the Race Star Flex since I would have liked to shop local. ... show more
