  • Don't let the presets fool you...this thing is a powerhouse!
I've spent the last three weeks sitting in front of this baby just thinking of what I'd like to try next, creating it, and saving my results for future use. Unlike many of the reviewers, I'm actually a forty-year synth vet with a small collection of synths, both vintage and new. Here are a few of my thoughts on the Deepmind6: Right away I noticed how solidly built this thing is...it really is pretty too. My other Behringer synth, the Neutron, is well built too. But this has handsome wood sides and is pretty hefty in comparison. Both synths needed firmware updates, but the Deepmind update process was much easier than the Neutrons. Everything works as it should! I used the PC version of the app on my Windows 7 machine, and it worked flawlessly. But after checking it out for a while, I felt like I was playing with a VST synth, and the reason for my recent purchases was to move away from "the box" a bit. So I'll use the app, but probably mostly for saving my patches. And speaking of patches...the Mod Matrix on the Deepmind really expands the sonic possibilities. It ain't no modular, but it sure can create some interesting results! Being integrated with the effects and giving me the control sequencer as a source put a few smiles in my ears. Lots of options, but only eight at once. The effects, btw, sound really good! I stripped them off and checked out the raw sound of the DM (which sounds nice!), before adding the chain of effects I desired. There are a few different configurations for the effects chain to choose from, and using them felt like I was doing it all physically, if that makes sense. Not "workstationy" at all. The effects really can become integral to the patch, and I look at them the same as the other components to the sound such as the oscillators and filters. The raw oscillators do sound good, although oscillator2 is a bit unconventional being pretty much a foldable square wave. But thickness is still easily obtainable, and I'm only talking about six-voice poly mode. Switching to the unison poly modes sounds even more so, but often I'm looking for character over thickness. If you are looking for thick sounds all time, you would be better off buying the twelve voice version, or you will run out of polyphony. I'm fine with the six, personally. So there you have it. I must say that it is a great time to be a synthhead! Such great machines, finally available to all at a affordable price! And the Deepmind is a standout in the affordable poly-synth market. You really can go "deep" with this beast! Great job, Behringer...and thanks! It's nice having physical hardware synths back again! ... show more

  • Probably the best value for any new analog synth out there
This is an awesome keyboard. The modulation matrix is incredible. I have owned and played some of the world's best analog synths and let me tell you, this keyboard is amazing. Yes, there are some limitations with the oscillator waveforms but this is one of the best analog synths I have ever owned. Yes, I have owned Oberheims, Sequential, Moog etc.... this is one mean machine! ... show more

  • A dream come true!
I've been playing for 30 years and owned countless digital synths from VA's to workstations. I've wanted a poly analog synth for a long time, but could never justify the accompanying price increase. I bought a Moog LP and kept it 2 days before I sent back.$1,299 for a mono synth is frankly a ripoff. So I'm looking around on Amazon and see the Deep Mind 6 for less than $500 new. Whaaaaat? I remembered when they launched at $699 I thought that was a very reasonable price, however being from Behringer I was skeptical so I decided to hold off.So after I saw the price reduction I thought what the hell. WOW....Just WOW......This thing is built like a tank and sounds amazing.I honestly don't know how they are making a profit at this price. pros: all metal construction. This thing is heavy! internal power supply(no wall wart/brick) rock solid knobs, sliders and wheels key-bed feels good(synth action) Amazing sounds and easy to use interface.Display very informative and changes as you move sliders. PRICE! Cons: none This synth is a keeper and a damn steal at this price!!!!! ... show more

  • EXCELLENT KEYBOARD
Got mine a few weeks ago. After doing some research i find this keyboard is the best keyboard for under $1000 us. Very complete and awesome sounding. Crafting sounds is very easy and quick. At first i wasn¨t a big fan of the big screen it comes with but definetely is what makes it so easy and fiendly to use , you won't have to be scrolling through menu pages. I like to get what im looking for quick and don't like to spend much time tweeking things and this keyboard offers that. I like to use it without the effects in general since I belive the effects being digital makes it loose its analog feel a bit but hey they come in very handy in many situations where you dont want to carry an analog pedal around. Also very complete in the effects section so no complaint there either. I think this is a very complete great sounding analog keyboard and for its price it cant be beaten! ... show more

  • Wow!
This is easily the most musical synth I have ever heard, right out of the box it’s sitting nicely in the mix and doing interesting things, super generous sweet spot, incredible effects that have real depth… The chassis is sturdy, keys feel great, the workflow is immediate and intuitive… instantly my favorite ... show more

  • More like DeepMeh... with a loud fan
Because it's got a Juno esq setup but the patches are all really quiet and spacey and it loses volume quickly when you have it playing a midi line that I wrote, and I am just tweaking the sliders, and I know how to use a synth... this thing is just kinda weak compared to the Behringer MS-1 that I have. Also the fan is stupid and loud. I rate it as bogus, 1 trick pony. I did 1 cool track with it and decided it was time to return it. I would recommend the MS-1 over this thing. The MS-1 is cheaper also and does not have that loud fan (or any fan). ... show more
