  • A favorite pair of boots for a true boot lover
Size: 7 Color: Black Lux
I absolutely love these boots, and they completely met my expectations of Bed Stu boots. My prior favorite boots are Bed Stu's Manchester tall boot in teak. In buying the Glaye, I was looking for a black motorcycle-look boot (I already have black dress boots, and wanted something a little more urban-chic). First, I had ordered a pair of Bed Stu Go Go's, but felt let down by the thinness of them -- they didn't have the solidity of a motorcycle boot -- and one of the boots was sized way too small. I originally intended to just reorder in a larger size, but (luckily, it turns out) the Go Go wasn't available in the next size. Searches online led me to the Glaye. Following my own experience w Bed Stu, as well as reviews, I ordered a half-size larger (I'm a true 6.5 in most shoes and sometimes size to a 7 with boots or other shoes that need room for a sock; I ordered the Go Go in 6.5 (too small) so ordered the Glaye in 7). What I love about these boots (and the Manchester): the Glaye has the same saddle-maker quality that I had experienced with the Manchester: where the Go Go was unlined and with slim soles, the Glaye is lined and substantial. The inner 'sock' (foot lining) of Bed Stu's is silky-supple, feeling as comfortable as pulling on fine leather gloves. Attention to small details, like the fit of the ankle buckle and the zippered gusset at the back of the calf, and even a small double square stitched detail at the heel, add to the quality. What you have to expect from Bed Stu boots: they are quirky. The rugged black finish may be more or less worn on each pair (I just resolved that I could use shoe polish to adjust if mine had more worn spots than I'd wanted). And every pair fits differently. Having tried on at least 6 pairs of Bed Stus (and had a pair that I wore near-daily, so know what they are like to live with), I knew that they always adjust a little beyond my first reaction - a stiff part adjusts, they stretch a little, etc. I knew the Go Gos didn't fit because the actual foot bed was too narrow and short (you could see my foot bulge over the sole), but it is not unusual for the fit to be snug enough to take a little effort getting them on and off (good riding boots are the same). So one suggestion is to be patient and wear them a few minutes when trying on. I love that the Glaye is snug on my calves (I have relatively thin legs; I'm 5'4" 128 lb), as this lends a sleek line -- but the Glaye is unique in having a zippered gusset at the back of the upper calf, which allows more leg room if needed. Even if your legs are thin, this allows tucking in pants, or you can just wear it opened, creating a flattering flair behind your leg. Overall, though: these boots may not allow room for socks/pants for wider calves. While these are not 'snow boots,' after a winter up north I appreciate dress boots that have a lugged sole -- walking to work in NYC or even just walking on the snowy drive in CT I wouldn't have to worry about slipping on snow or ice. Overall, these are super high-quality boots, worth the price, on par with quality brands like Frye. They are comfortable on the bottom of the foot, arch and calves, with soft linings. And the styling details are one of a kind - from stitched detail, quality hardware, red soles, gusseted calf... I'm glad to now have a second favorite pair of boots. ... show more

  • Runs True To Size...For Me
Size: 7.5 Color: Tan Rustic/White
These boots run true to size...for me. I've never worn a size 8 shoe or boot before. Based on the reviews and Amazon's recommendation chart, I sized up half a size and ordered a size 8 instead of my normal size 7.5. However, I found that the size 8 was too big and caused my feet to slide back and forth and my heels slipped with each step. The ankle portion was too big and caused rubbing leaving red marks on the backs of my ankles after a few steps around the house. I have neither narrow nor wide feet but do have very small calves measuring 12.5". The shaft was larger than I hoped and the length was too tall. When I sat down the top of the boots touched the back of my knees and thighs. I'm 5'5" and weigh 130lbs. I was disappointed and returned them immediately. Based on the price point I wasn't going to attempt to get them to fit by wearing thick socks and I don't want to look like a clown with out of proportion feet. I debated and decided to try my normal size of 7.5. What a difference! When they arrived I thought I was sent the wrong boot because the box was much smaller than the larger one I had initially received. When I opened it, the boots were folded to fit, the tag on the zipper was cardboard instead of the leather leaf design and the inside of the boot shaft was a different type of leather and darker in color. The size 8 had a marking showing they were manufactured in December 2017, the size 7.5 did not. At first I felt cheated thinking I received an older model. But when I tried them on they fit like they were made for my feet. The shaft is more narrow and fit my calves better, the top of the shaft did not touch the back of my knees when I sat down and my heel didn't slip when I walked. The ankle fit like my other boots and I didn't have any rubbing or pain. The best part is that the tan/camel color is gorgeous and what I've been searching for. These have light distressing compared to the 8s which looked kind of dirty. I can't believe the difference that a half size smaller made. Fitting the boot to my feet fixed all the issues that I experienced. I have no need to unzip the back zipper to accommodate my calves but I did notice the 7.5s seemed to be quite a bit smaller than the 8s when unzipped. Based on the difference of opinions in the reviews, I think there may be an updated version or model of this boot or that sizes 8 and larger are constructed differently to fit larger calves. I didn't think to take photos of the size 8s for a comparison since I was in a hurry to return them and debated on whether to order my true size. After hours of wear they're still comfortable. I'm thrilled I tried my normal size and that they fit perfectly. ... show more

  • Extremely small and narrow, not worth the money
I finally made the decision to buy these boots I'd bee. Looking at for weeks. I read the reviews, sized up and did it! I could barely even squeeze my foot in and once it was crammed into the tiny little toe box my foot was already cramping because they were soooo narrow and tight. To add insult to injury, I could barely zip them up over my average sized calves( I'm not tiny...but...5'09,140) I never have a problem with zipping boots. As far as appearances..they were cooler looking from a distance than up close. Do I believe it's real "distressed"leather...not really. The distressing looks cheesy. I wish they were what I wanted them to be. I had to return them..and for the price, I wasn't willing to even try going up. Few sizes. My guess...even 2-3 sizes up, would still have a tinier than ever tie box. So..no thanks! I'll stick with my cheaper much softer and true to size boots. Dont waste your money unless you have barbie feet! ... show more

  • Not necessarily just for narrow calves - but probably more comfortable for narrower feet!
First of all I should tell you that I am not a petite lady - I'm 42 years old, 5'8" and 178lbs - I do not have narrow nor young calves. Yet I love these boots! Oh and I also bought my true size. Please read ahead though before you order. Ok I hesitated before purchasing these boots. I read so many reviews about these stating that the boots ran small, they were preferably for narrow calves, extremely painful to walk in, etc, etc. Then immediately following that, most people said that they were so beautiful they just ordered a size (or two) larger, unzipped the back zipper, or just simply dealt with the pain. There was a part of me that knew purchasing them would be a waste of my time and money. I already wear a 9.5 (They only run as large as a 10 from what I can see here on Amazon). I do NOT have narrow calves (mine measure 15") AND to top it all off I have a painful bunion on my right foot. But being that these boots ARE beautiful (and just happened to drop in price by $100) I bought them. I do not regret it one bit!!! Here's my take on all those reviews that will tell you that these boots run small - as far as length goes, in my opinion these boots are actually true to size - it's the width of them that is smaller than what most people are probably used to. They are rather narrow at the front part of my foot, the part just behind the toes or the area of the ball of my foot. I have a narrower foot than most ladies so this isn't that bad for me but they are snug. And because of the way the boots are made this part isn't going to stretch out as quickly as some other areas-but they will stretch. Interestingly, the way they are made doesn't seem to bother my bunion - which is odd to me because usually shoes that are too snug width-wise are impossible for me to wear due to pain. So if you have a medium-wide foot they are probably going to seem tiny to you. If you do decide to buy these, just remember that the leather used to make these boots is so exceptional that it immediately begins loosening the moment you start walking around in the boots. It is easy to understand why, over time, these boots become many ladies' fave - they will obviously form to your feet through time. Now, as far as the reviewers who had issues zipping them up. Simply put, I just forced the zippers up!. Once I realized that the leather was immediately stretching to accommodate for my foot I knew that it would as well for my calves so I forced the zipper up over my calves (without loosening the back zipper). The zipper is heavy duty and strong. Though this was incredibly tight at first around my 15" calves (and even a bit painful), as I walked around I could feel them loosening/conforming to my legs. Now, it's the next day and not only did I have no problem zipping them this morning but I'm even wearing them over jeans comfortably! Now they are snug. But it's not like I can't put my hand in the top of the boot or anything (see pic). Honestly, it's the snugness in the calves that finally prompted me to buy these boots. I didn't want the boots I'm wearing to make my legs look bigger or wider. I wanted them to be slim and fit snug to my leg. These quite frankly are perfect! I do have one complaint though, I feel like they are a little loose in the ankles. Maybe I just have small ankles or something but I did tighten the buckle around the ankle one notch. I just didn't like the baggy feel the way it was. Now about comfortability while walking - well this morning started great - but now at lunch time they have loosened enough that they are actually slipping a bit on my heel (I am wearing very thin socks). In fact, a blister is now forming on my heel from the slipping. The inside shoe bed is not soft and cushiony (no memory foam here!), and there is NO nice molded arch support in the foot bed either. In fact, no part of the interior is padded, cushioned or protected with anything other than the leather lining. The thing is that anyone who has ever owned a pair of boots like this knows that you have to break them in and that it may get a little painful in the process. BUT stick it through and then 3,4, 5+ years from now, these boots will be the best pair of boots in our closets. I even believe that the oh-so-slightly-cushioned insole will become more comfortable as I break them in. Final verdict: Though these boots aren't for everyone. But, I believe that more ladies can wear them than what is probably believed. You don't have to have narrow calves to own/wear these boots, you just have to have the patience and diligence it takes to break in a new pair of shoes. But it might help to have feet that are more narrow to medium rather than medium-wide. ... show more

  • Sizing info! Read before you buy! True to size with a narrow heel. 😊
I absolutely love these boots that after buying them in the black lux I got the tan. Hence why there are one of each color on in the pictures. There were countless reviews saying these boots were too small. IMO they are true to size. The insole (length) is definitely true to size. However I think the reason people were saying these ran small is because when you go to out you foot in the heel area is quite narrow and takes a good push to get in. Or if you have a sock on they wil slip on nicely. Once they are on you have a nice snug boot. Not too tight. Had I gotten the size up they would of rubbed on my heels and the length would of been to long. However I do have feet that are on the narrow to normal side. I also have bunions :-/ and the toe area did not bother them at all. Leading me to believe these boots are only narrow in the heel part and maybe up to the arch part if even. I'd say if you have narrow to normal feet then go for it and order your normal size! If you have wide feet then these are not the boots for you. They also fit my skinny to normal sized calfs. However they have an extra zipper for larger calfs. made to be knee high boots. If you are on the fence I say go for it. I was and I'm glad I bought them. I love all Bed|Stü shoes (especially their oxfords) and they even have cute purses! They are high quality and Very stylish. I hope this review helps especially reguarding size wise! ... show more

  • Not true to size
I'm giving these boots 4 stars because the quality is very good and worth the money, and the worn look is very unique. However, per the other reviews I chose to purchase a half size up. The "shaft" fit perfectly. I was able to fully zip them, and I could get skinny jeans under them as well. Unfortunately, the foot portion was way too big and they were clunky/unattractive. I then ordered my normal size. To my dismay they are extremely tight in the foot. There are 2 zippers on the shaft, I can close the side zip just fine, but the back has to stay wide open to allow room for my calves. Because the back zipper opens to another piece if "extender" leather, it looks ok, but in my opinion, not good enough for the price. I will be sending this pair back as well :-( ... show more

  • The coolest and best boots ever!
This particular Bed Stu style does run small. Knowing this, I purchased whole size up. Ok, now that we've got that out of the way I can gush about how 'effing AMAZING these boots are! Seriously, I get compliments every single time I wear these boots. From everyone - men and women of all ages love the look of these boots. They have a very cool distressed look which I love. I don't like the look of the sleek perfect riding boot that many women prefer; I like a little character, something that looks lived in and handmade. These are THE perfect boot for me. I've purchased two more pair of Bed Stu boots since the distressed leather look really appeals to me. They are comfortable and ridiculously stylish, and I want a pair in every color. The leg opening may be a challenge for some unless you have slender calves. I'm a plus size woman who wears a 14-16 in clothing, but my calves are relatively slender. I was just barely able to get them zipped up over jeans right out of the box, but it didn't take long for the leather to stretch just enough for the slightest bit of give. They look great with jeans or with a cute dress. If you like the boho look of distressed leather boots, THESE ARE THE ONES! A bit pricey, but totally worth it. These are quality hand made leather boots with a cobbled sole (which is red!) I've owned mine for about three years and they are still my favorite pair of footwear hands down. I'm a Bed Stu convert after purchasing these boots. I've received so many compliments over the years I've considered carrying cards with the company's info on them to hand out to people when they ask where I bought them. In my opinion, these are the perfect boot.Bed|Stu Women's Glaye Motorcycle Boot, Tan Rustic/White, 8 M US ... show more

  • Craftsmanship at its finest!! *Listen to the review's to buy 1 size up☝!
Size: 11 Color: Tan Rustic/White
Since I was about to drop a few Benjamin's on these boots you better believe I did my research including reading multiple reviews and boy am I glad that I did. I normally wear a woman's size 10 and ordered these boots in a women's size 11 which fits me perfectly with room for socks. These boots are 100% genuine leather, quality made, unique, & I can appreciate the hand finishing process that adds character to the "distressed" & "antique" look. To me these boots were a bit pricey and an investment on my end so I did not want to be disapointed and I certainly was not. This is my first pair of owning "Bed Stü" boots and now I'm convinced as to why they have a solid and consistent reputation. I'm very impressed and a new customer for other products by this company. Yes, I will spend my hard-earned money on future items by BedStü because I know I will receive only the best of quality and craftmanship. If you are thinking about buying but hesitant I can assure you that you won't be disappointed and rather you will fall in love with your product!! ... show more
