Bean box is definitely an awesome idea. The box is very nice, the packaging is professional, and the 3 caramels were a nice touch. I was eager to try interesting espresso flavors. However, almost all were light or very light roast, a few medium, and none dark. If you like that style, you might enjoy the collection. For me, though I normally enjoy small batch artisanal coffee and drink espresso with any roast (except the burnt Starbucks style or anything that comes in a pod), it was like drinking vinegar, so acidic they curdled creamer and left a nasty aftertaste. The descriptions sound inviting, milk chocolate, plum, lime, black tea, brown sugar, etc., but what I tasted was plain foul, more like fermented compost. The item is non returnable. After trying 3 of the bags (1 very ligt and 2 light-medium, none palatable but the light one positively alarming) and feeling deeply disappointed for wasting $89, I contacted the seller for a replacement with maybe darker roasts, waiting to hear back. Will update review once they reply. Update: The customer service is simply amazing. They go above and beyond with helping you dial in your grinding and brewing methods to get the right taste from each type of coffee. Bravo Bean Box! ... show more

The bean box sampler is a great gift. You get four, 8 tablespoon servings of full bean, FRESHLY roasted coffee. I emphasize freshly roasted because most people are not accustomed to this flavor profile of coffee when it’s been roasted recently. Even do that sell “fresh” coffee really had those beans roasted months ago. If you grind these beans up at home correctly for the brewing method you pick, and are not used to truly fresh coffee, please note, it will taste quite different from what your used to. I mention this because I’ve seen a few reviews complain about two things. One is the taste, they say it tastes weird. As a seasoned coffee enthusiast, I’m willing to be money on the fact that they haven’t had freshly roasted coffee before. The second is the amount of “coffee dust” or fibers that come off the beans. This is likely because no only are the beans roasted fresh to order, but they aren’t processed a whole lot, another great thing about Bean Box. Also, note that you do not get to pick the specific roasts, you only get to pick the types of roasts. Light, medium, dark, or mixed roasts. I’ve had 12 different coffees from sample boxes of Bean Box coffee, and there were only about two or three that i wasn’t crazy about. That being said, they weren’t bad, just not my thing. The only, down side is the price. You really don’t get a lot of coffee for the money you paying for. But that’s just a result of the nature of sample boxes. You could spend the same amount on a single bag of coffee and get almost three times more. But the purpose of this is not the value, it’s to try out some new, fresh coffees. ... show more

My father likes coffee, and I thought it would be a good christmas gift. How right i was! He loves to taste the different flavors. Beware though, I'm not a coffee enthusiast(I drink whatever will keep me awake) I couldn't tell the difference between the types. But drinking it outside will greatly improve its flavor ... show more

I have never given a 5 star review and believe me Bean Box has earned it. Great service, great product what more can you ask from a company. Well, here is where it gets better, I needed this Birthday present sooner then they could ship and Yael Morrison, Coffee Concierge contacted me and explained that they would provide the freshest roast and would ship it 2nd Day Air at not extra charge! There was no package of coffee more that 5 days old and two were roasted on 27 Sep and we received the package 29 Sep.That is taking care of the customer. My son is looking forward to experiencing the 16 different choices that are been provided in the World Coffee Tour Gourmet Sampler and the candy was a nice touch too.. I my self will be placing an order because the coffee tasted great! The Sampler price was very reasonable and with the service I can say it was well worth it!!! Exactly as described. The only issue is that both closure tapes were opened. Since it is a gift I was disappointed . But no return so I retaped and sent it. I did open since the seals were broken to make sure it as all there with no damage to pouches.
