This reel is very nice for organizing your cords. I would have given it a 5 star rating had it not been slightly flawed. I have ordered three so the flaw is consistent. The drums have rough spots in the formed plastic. They do not reel smoothly until you eliminate them. I used a razor knife and sandpaper to smooth them out and now the grip freely slides around the drum. You can easily tell what needs to be shaved off and sanded by turning drum slowly and allowing the hand grip to slide on its own. it will stop on each rough spot until you have them all smoothed out. I like my finished product and plan to order two more for generator cord storage. ... show more

As stated by many reviewers, the finish is a bit rough. Burrs on the drum cause hang-ups and stops during use. But, they are easily removed and eliminate the problem entirely. I use this for a 150' cat 6a ethernet cable and it fits on the roll perfectly. It's not something that will survive a fall from a roof, but it is plenty serviceable for the money. ... show more

I have no issues with the reel itself. I did not check what the gauge requirements were that allowed you to wind 100ft. My 100ft extension cord just made it to the outer edge, and I had no room to weave in the end plug, so I had to secure it with a wrap bungee cord to keep it from unravelling.

My unit had some plastic flash from the injection molding equipment and it needed to be shaved with a razor blade. It’s also not quite enough capacity for a 100’ 12ga cord. Ut it can handle it if it’s wound carefully.

I have 100 feet of cord I use for my business and this was a little cheaper than a similar item you can buy at Wally World. Like many other reviewers state there was a little piece of plastic that needs to be filed or clipped off. Took care of it with some toe nail clippers and it spins like a dream now. The only things not great about this is that if you have 100 ft. of really thick cord, you might want to get something a smidge bigger. When I'm done winding my 100 footer, it barely fits on the spool and often flops off as I'm stowing it. Winding is a little weird with the handle style as well but you get used to it pretty quick. I don't use this thing like I'm supposed to because it takes to long to get my cord on it, and it makes the coils too small. I just take my cord and big loops to roll it up and then hang it over this thing. It keeps it neat that way, and it doesn't tangle when I go to use my cord.

Finally, a cord reel that can handle all my cord-tying needs! This bad boy has been put through the ringer – tested for "the toughest situations" like cord wrestling championships or cord bungee jumping, I assume. I'm glad to know it's designed in the USA, because we take our cord management seriously. And just look at that vibrant orange color – my cords will never get lost in the tangled mess again! With heavy-duty impact resistance, I'm tempted to throw my cords around like a cowboy with a lasso. I may never need to untangle cords manually again! ... show more

Liked how simple it was how ever I did have to file down the inside guides because the plastic was stopping the handle. I also did not catch one single fish using this, difficult to cast.
