Description

Organize your office or home office with the Ellingham sideboard storage cabinet, its contemporary attitude imparting modern charm into any interior. Constructed of a combination of MDF and particle board for long-lasting sturdiness, the Ellingham is finished with walnut faux wood grain finishing for a smooth and mid-century feel. Used in both office and home settings, the Ellingham fits exceptionally well into tight spaces, providing storage space for books and files. The spacious airy feel of the Ellingham is attributed to four of its tall splayed legs which raise the body of the cabinet off the floor occupying minimal space both physically and visually. The Ellingham respectfully takes into consideration the colors, rounded lines design and the size, allowing it to be used as bookcase or file cabinet in your home office or as a display shelf at the entry way. Made in Malaysia, the Ellingham requires assembly.

  • All in all a very nice unit. Flexible vertical shelving configuration
While IKEA-like, the quality is slightly higher. And the finish is better than most other items out there. Yes, all the items except the legs are compressed wood with a sheer veneer upon it, but it looks pretty sharp once assembled. Overall the item 'feels' solid which is more than I can say for similar branded items. If you're worried about assembling this item I'd say skip it. It has many, many, many parts and takes about an hour to get it all together. I treat it like building a Lego set - lots of pieces so let your imagination run wild. For example one could elect to skip the verticle shelves keeping only the horizontal ones. On mine I elected to skip the topmost vertical divide/shelf. I think it just looks better without it and can store much larger items on top to better suit my needs. Doing so leaves little holes on the surface but that is a minor item at best - IMO. Since another asked, for the bottom portion it does indeed store LPs vertically just fine. My pictures demonstrate that use. All in all very nice. Minus 1 star because the rear is quite ugly but if moved against a wall you'll never notice that. ... show more

  • Good value for price
Once put together it's a very nice looking piece, with the rounded edges and solid feel it's a good deal for $130. It does take patience, and mechanical "know how" to assemble this, there are many pieces and the directions really are not that good, but I feel that is to be expected with this price point and if you want it to feel solid well you have to fasten it and take time to assemble properly. It took us a little over an hour to assemble, to me that was expected and not bad, just what it is. It does have an off gassing odor that took a few hour to dissipate so we opened the windows and aired out the room for a few hours, after that the odor was gone. ... show more

  • A really okay mid-century style thing.
This bookshelf is a solid "okay." I bought it to add to a mid-century themed craft area, and the style of the bookshelf is right on, but it IS press board and the finish on it is not exciting. The box it came in was pretty beaten up by the time it got to me, but I didnt have any broken or damaged pieces. Each board was wrapped in paper inside the box to keep them from scratching each other. The hardware came in a small box inside the big box, but beware: some of the pieces were in plastic bags and some is loose in the box and you will need ALL of it. There are no spare pieces. It comes with a standard L-shaped hex tool for assembly. The legs are solid wood, but the stain was sloppy and streaky. The rest of the piece is particle board with a paper veneer that reminds me of all the flat pack furniture we bought in the 80s that was always a nondescript, generic brown woodgrain. It is thin paper, but I dropped a Phillips head screwdriver on it several times and didnt make a mark. The back and the bottom of the drawer are not particle board, but sort of a thin hardboard with the same wood grain paper veneer. I would not trust heavy items in the drawer, and both of those pieces in my package were slightly warped. However, on the upside they were a step up from cardboard and the back was a solid piece, not folded or frankesteined together from smaller squares. The instructions are not well written or well diagrammed; its unclear which holes to use when screwing the drawer rails to the sides on the bookshelf. I didnt follow the directions in order because I'm a rebel; I suggest assembling the drawer early on and using it to make sure the rails you attach to the inside of the side pieces are lined up so the drawer fits flush with the front of the shelf. My drawer also does not sit centered in its assigned seat, which I thought might have been assembler error, but I'm not sure how since the holes are almost all pre-drilled. The warp in the back board made the final assembly difficult. I did manage it on my own, but a second set of hands would've helped and I used a rubber mallet to finesse everything into place. The hardware was cheap and didnt inspire much confidence that this will be an easy piece to move without significant babying. Also, I realized after assembling the piece that it's almost too deep to serve as a bookshelf. It would be great for records I think because the shelves are very deep, but I'll have to fit boxes in the backs of the shelves to accommodate books or they'll be lost in the depths. ... show more

  • Read directions first. Overall great piece
The reviews on this were mixed, and the bad reviews revolved around difficulty of assembly and the pressed wood sides and shelves. We found that the shelves and sides were veneer, not decals like some of the reviews stated. Also if you read the directions first, before heading into the assembly, things will go much easier for you. We bought 2 and the first took 2-3 hours, but the 2nd took only 40 mins because we knew what we were doing. The biggest hint I can give would be about the drawer runners in pieces A and B: wheels go down, towards the bottom and screws go in the 2nd hole from the front of the runner setting the runner about 3/4 inch from the front edge. This way the drawer sits just right. We left off the back panel because we wanted to see the white walls through the piece. Looks great! Yes, the directions could be more clear and the pieces better labeled, but all-in-all great value for the price, sturdy, and MUCH nicer than anything at IKEA ... show more

  • Love love love!
This was the first piece I found before I started to redecorate my room. I wasn’t going to purchase this originally because there were other items I needed more, but let me just say IM SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS! It is the cutest accent piece!!!! Assembly wasn’t bad. With two people, it takes about 15-20 mins. It is a sturdy piece of furniture; it has some good weight to it. If you need a great filler/accent piece, this is totally worth the money. It did come with a very small scratch on the drawer, but you don’t even notice it. ... show more

  • I love the look of it!
I love the look of this bookshelf! That’s what drew me to it, and I have some taller books (13”h) I assumed would fit. There were no specs on how tall the shelves were but by the photo it looked to be enough space. Over all I like the bookshelf but mine came damaged on the side that I hadn’t noticed until I got it together. Looked like it’d been hit with a hammer. I didn’t want to have to repackage it and send it back by the off chance I could get something better or something worse. That’s the problem with furniture like this you never know. Hopefully maybe I can get some refund out of the damage cause I’m willing to keep it, but it’s not the “new” price I paid. ... show more
