I needed to replace the lock on the mailbox at my business and these looked to be about the right size so I decided to give them a try. They fit the slot perfectly, but none of the three included sizes of lock arms matched so I had to reuse my old one. That being said, this was still a perfect solution to my problem and I have a functional lock on my mailbox again! This seems like a hell of a bargain at 3 locks for $6! The only negative thing I have to say on these is that I dropped the lock on the concrete while installing it and, even with the protective film still on the cylinder, it ended up marring the surface a decent bit. But again, for how cheap these are, I can't be mad about that at all. Definitely a good buy for this price and I'd definitely recommend them! ... show more

I need a replacement lock for a file cabinet that I've lost the keys to. I've tried many of these inexpensive lock cylinders and they never quite work out, but decided to try again with this set of three cabinet locks from Bates. On paper everything is correct: A 5/8 lock cylinder with a square post and screw to hold it in place. So far, so good. The cylinders have a pretty good action to them. Not much slop at all, and they seem to have spring loaded positive stops so they stay at the locked or unlocked positions easily. They are meant to be installed with the included retaining nut and can be installed right side up or flipped 180 degrees. They also have the small flat spots on each side to re-use a retaining clip if your cabinet has one (they don't come with this style retainer). So far they're the best locks I've tried, and at just $7 for three they're also one of the least expensive. Recommended. ... show more

I have an outdoor trash bin that I need to replace the lock cylinder and this Bates style replacement cylinder seems to do the job perfectly. The clearance is pretty narrow so the short 1 inch barrel on this lock was perfect. It comes with everything needed to install the lock minus the tools- it has the lock washer and a self locking screw to make sure both the lock barrel and latch “finger” doesn’t work it’s way loose over time, but I put a drop of loctite threadlock on both pieces to make sure. The precut keys slide in and turn the barrel smoothly without catching. Over all this is a great value for a 3 piece set. ... show more

These cabinet keys work great. The quality is surprisingly good - these are a step above most others. The key is very smooth to operate and there's a crisp detent at both ends of travel. Also, I like that all 3 sets are keyed alike, so I can kit out a whole stack of drawers with the same key. And, this kit comes with a couple of offset levers, so it can accommodate a sloppy cut or fit into an awkward space. The larger one gives about 10mm of extra room. ... show more
