I was looking for a basket muzzle for my 11lb dog, and ordered a couple to try. This is the one I ended up keeping. He came from an a bad situation (hoarding, abuse, not really sure of the details), and he is fearful of new people when they get too close and tty to touch him, so we were having trouble getting a vet checkup completed. He's gotten so friendly with his groomer, but a vet visit is still a bit too much poking and prodding for him. The vet has those adjustable sleeve muzzles on hand, but those aren't good for longer term use because the dog can't breathe/pant, and can't easily take treats or drink water. So I was looking specifically for the basket kind. My dog has a small face and shorter nose, and I was worried about some of the muzzles poking into his eyes. The shape of this one is pretty good, and lays next to his eyes only. (This is the best fit I've found for him.) There is plenty of room to breathe, and he can take treats and drink water. The drawbacks: the fasteners are kind of crappy and cumbersome. It's a tiny little clip that you have to look into one of the holes, but the clip is so small that it barely fits around the width of the strap. It's a pain. But it does keep it lightweight I guess. My dog is able to remove this when he gets annoyed with it, but looping his collar through it helps. It takes him a minute though, so when I see him trying to take it off, I just comfort him and give him a treat instead. (Relevant reminder: it's cruel and unsafe to leave a muzzled dog unattended.) The lighter tan color is nice since our dog is light colored, it doesn't look quiet so scary and Bain-like. With this as a safeguard, we were finally able to get through some productive vet visits (incl all the vaccine updates) with our loving and patient vet.

I used this as I was socializing my puppy, as she tended to nip when she was uncomfortable. This gave me so much peace of mind, and we never need to use it anymore since she is comfortable in crowds, the dog park, and meeting strangers. She didn't even need the center strap, and she never got out of it. Unfortunately, she hated it so much. She would run away when I brought it out. The bad thing about this is that she can still reach rocks and dirt with it on, and she has started to eat and swallow anything that she can get in her mouth. I since switched to a mesh muzzle, but that doesn't have near the durability as the Baskerville. I've seen other companies have poop-eating guards to place inside, and I wish baskervilles came with that.

I like the brown color option as it is slightly less scary looking than the black (the brown being the same color as our dog.) The size 1 fits well on our 20 pound dog who is shaped like a min pin. The length is perfect, and the opening seems big, but good he has room to open his mouth. It sits nicely against his face, and while he is not happy to have it on, he doesn't seem uncomfortable (just embarrassed and inconvenienced.) I used treats to introduce it, and he calmly lets me put it on. One downside, the loop at the bottom is much too small for his collar to slip through which is the clip type. We would have to buy a narrow one that will fit through it. I don't think we will need to use that option, but if you do, note you will need a narrow collar with a plain end.

I received the wrong size at first but quickly got it exchanged with no issue to the right size (within a matter of two days). My pup was not happy but couldn't get out of it and it fit perfectly. He could still drink water/ pant and sniff everything but no more chewing on furniture!! :) Ive tried the bitter spray but he doesn't mind the taste and chewed through anything anyways and the vet said he is past the chewing stage so apparently he just likes to eat furniture. At least with this i know he will be safe from ingesting things he shouldn't while im at work.

This works great for my foster dog. She is scared of new people and in order to reduce her and my anxiety while taking her into the animal clinic I bought this product. The fit was spot on. She can still pant, drink and take treats with it on. We did practice positive association with peanut butter so she could get used to it. She is a 20 lb beagle/chihuahua mix. I also like this tan color that matches her coat. You will need a narrow collar band in order to feed it through the muzzle loops and attach the clip.

Update: this muzzle does not fit toy poodles correctly. Way too wide and doesn't fit snout length. I got the smallest size..1. She hates it....The strap around is as tight as it will go. The top has to be loosened or it blocks her eyes. It is then rendered useless because it's so loose she got it off. I need the Baskerville Classic, but apparently you can't get it in the US, so will have to try another brand. It's too late to return it.

This looked so uncomfortable for any dog. It was also way to big for my chihuahua even though I ordered the smallest size. It was stiff leather and seemed like it could be durable if I'd gotten a chance to use it.

My dog is 13 pounds and I had to get the smallest size (1) for her. It is a well designed muzzle and does not seem to bother her. It stops her from eating pebbles which was the problem, and she can drink with it on and I can give her a treat. I wish the muzzle had a velcro closing. I have to use the third from last hole and it is hard to see it with the dog hair there, and your dog has to sit still for this process. Velcro would make it a lot easier and also give you more flexibility in size.
