  • 2012 Prius V = Perfect Fit with easy, compact storage
I live in Hawaii and we have sunshine everyday and our temperature range is between 70-85 degrees year around. Shaded parking is not always available and usually involves cleaning up massive amounts of bird poop. For the past five years, I used a roll up style reflective windshield sunshade for my Audi A6. It did the job but was a huge P.I.T.A. to put away. Flip down the visor, pull it toward you, fold it in half (head leaned back), roll it up (without elbowing a passenger), wrap the velcro strap, and put away in the...well, no good place to put it as it was as compact as my windshield was tall. Usually sat in my back seat or in the floorboard. If I had passengers with me, I'd often have to take it out and throw it in the trunk. Very inconvenient. After purchasing the 2012 Prius V with that HUGE windshield, I knew that there was no way I would use an accordian or roll up style windshield sunshade. Can you imagine having a 3 foot long sunshield laying around your car...me neither. Quality: Nice. Material does not feel as though it will tear apart if you aren't extremely gentle with it. The wire frame is sturdy but pliable enough to fit into the corners of the windshield and stay securely in the windshield without lowering the visors or any sagging Fit: BOTTOM: The bottom edges of the sunshield panels will tuck nicely into the corners of your Prius V windshield leaving only about a 1/2" area of glass not covered in each corner. SIDES: The sides of the sunshade panels fit perfectly against the glass and windshield post of the vehicle so there is no drooping after it warms up or is in place for any period of time. TOP: The top of the panels fit perfectly rest under the edge of the visors without having to lower them. In the month that I have been using them, they have not fallen down or drooped at all. One less step and a little bit of a time saver...bonus! STORAGE: Stack the panels together, fold the ends of the long edge together, and it collapses. The steering wheel sized sunshades are held closed by an elastic band that is very easy to manage. I just take the sunshade and slide it into the back pocket of the passenger seat. The only thing I don't like about these sunshade panels and ALL SUNSHADES is how much room is required in order to expand and collapse them. It's not a big deal, just a quirk that can't be helped without a different product design. To address this issue, I usually get into the car before my passenger to pull down and collapse the panels before my passenger gets into the car...takes about 20 seconds. In summary, I bought some pretty awesome sunshade panels that fit my HUGE windshield and collapse very SMALL for only $12! Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Use these in my bedroom window and LOVE them!!
First of all you should know that I did not buy these for an RV. I bought them for use in my bedroom window, and I LOVE them! Allow me to explain. We just moved into a new home on top of a hill that has lots of big SE facing windows. It's lovely. There are 5 in the master suite alone! They all have wood blinds on them, but even with the blinds closed, the morning sun turns our room into a celestial oven. Most mornings this isn't an issue as I'm usually up before the sun. However, sometimes I work a swing shift and need to sleep in and that becomes nearly impossible. Yes, I could install black out shades or curtains and eventually I probably will, but for the time being, this was a quick and cheap fix! Besides just being really bright, that amount of sun coming in that many windows of the uppermost room of the house ALL DAY LONG really makes it hot in there, and I was hoping to save on the energy bill by perhaps cutting down on some of that heat. So now you know why I bought them. I've been using them for a week now and I have to say that I LOVE them!!! I put both in the window (behind the blinds) closest to the head of my bed and they block almost the entire window. They keep it nice and dark when I need it dark and have kept the room SO MUCH COOLER during the day, just by blocking that ONE window! Plus, when I want light they are SO EASY to take out and fold up or slide under my bed. They are made of quality materials and are sturdy. They come with an elastic strap attached that you can use to fold them back up. Now, for those of you who are buying these for their intended purpose, see my picture of the list on the packaging describing which RV windows they work for. I think these would even work for some truck or SUV windows as well. I took a picture of them on the floor next to my husbands shoe for scale. I can highly recommend them, especially at such a great price! For the record, I did NOT receive this item for free or at a discount. I paid full price just like you. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Cuts the heat considerably
I live in the Mojave Desert. Yes, 120 degrees in the shade in mid-July Mojave Desert. Without a shade like this, I could bake a cake in my Odyssey. I've tried several different types of sun shades. The big fan fold, these two piece taco-fold, and a hybrid of the two. I've had them in materials ranging from cardboard to fancy pants mylar-coated bubble wrap. The crinkly mylar type seem to work just as well as the silvery cloth variety for me. They last about the same amount of time. Until someone develops car windows that automatically turn 100% opaque and reflect heat, the taco-fold variety are the best. They fold down into a relatively small circle you can shove between the seats. You can break them up. Put one in the dash and give the other one to the kid in the way back bellyaching about being hot while you wait for dad to get out of the store, etc. My biggest issue is that my Odyssey has a ginormous front window. Super Jumbo fits perfectly, but they are hard to find. Tips to get the best use: Park facing into the sun Crack your windows at least an inch (moonroof window too)--no sunshade is going to keep your car cooler than the ambient air temperature. That ambient air needs to be able to get into the car. A sunshade MIGHT keep it from getting up to 140 in the interior, but not if the windows are all closed up. Practice folding it. I know it's a pain, but it really is something with the wrists. You can always chuck it into the back seat when you get annoyed. ... show more
