BasicGear Basic Series BasicGear Classic Series Pancake Pro Series BasicGear Sport Series Spring Crab Traps Seine Nets BasicGear EZ Cast Nets How do I choose the right cast net size, weight, and mesh? Use 3–6ft nets for beginners, 8–12ft for pros. 1/4” mesh targets small bait; 3/8” works for most. Heavier weights (1.0+ lb/ft) sink faster, but even our 0.75lb/ft sink faster than competitors with our custom monofilament line. What kind of water can I use the nets? Salt or freshwater? All nets work in both, but rinse with clean water after use. Zinc Iron weights are rust-resistant for several months only and better suited for freshwater; Lead and PVC Protected weights are rustproof and ideal for all environments with proper care. What’s the difference between BasicGear and BasicGear Pancake series cast nets? Our standard nets are for novice to average level users, using zinc iron, lead and PVC protected weights. Our Pancake series cast nets are commercial-grade, offering lead and PVC protected weights and even more premium materials and construction. Do BasicGear nets and traps come ready to use? Yes, all BasicGear cast nets, seine nets, and crab traps come pre-rigged or pre-assembled. Just unfold, secure the lines, and start fishing—no extra setup needed. For our seine nets, only the net is included, you'll need your own holding poles. Are the nets and traps easy to store and carry? Yes, our nets and traps are designed to be lightweight, foldable, or collapsible for quick transport. Ideal for fishing trips, boat storage, or tossing in your gear bag or the included bucket.
