I have a 2024 MacBook Pro in space black - this fantastic microSD to SD card fits perfectly, perfectly flush, it's nearly invisible. The only negative and I am nit picking here if you want to keep your MacBook Pro looking sleek this device is right on the money, the color is slightly off from apples space black - but as I said nit picking you have to look pretty close to notice. The microSD card slot seems too small but you can get it in there - be gentle - and make sure you seat the card all the way in - on my unit it took some good pressure 2 or 3 times to get it fully seated. What I received is nothing short of a scam. This MacBook Pro SD card adapter was advertised as new, but it arrived completely damaged, worn out, previously opened, and clearly used. The casing was scratched, the ports were bent, and the device didn’t work at all. It’s obvious this product was either heavily used before or intentionally shipped in defective condition. Either way, it’s unacceptable. The adapter isn’t even recognized by my MacBook and only triggers error messages. This item should have never been sold — especially not as new. I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this seller. Terrible quality, terrible quality control, terrible service. I want my money back. ... show more

This new design for the MacBook Pro 2021 is really nice for the price. As expected from technically a MicroSD card reader, it performs similar decent branded card reader. It does have the extra pins for UHS-II but unfortunately I don't have MicroSD that supports UHS-II, so I can only speak for UHS-I speeds. At about 89R/79W speed, it is in the range what I expected. I am using a 1TB Sandisk MicroSD with the new QuickFlow technology. As expected, the BaseQi 420A doesn't support SanDisk's proprietary tech. UHS-II MicroSD card should be able to give better read and write speeds. It's a very affordable way to expand MacBook Pro's storage with of course very slow transfer speeds (comparing to the built in storage), but as long as you're okay with it - then it shouldn't disappoint you. The card is well built with aluminum bits to match the MacBook's color. The card pokes out a bit and doesn't completely sit flushed to the chassis. It's very minimal but you'll definitely feel it if your hand or finger touches the edges. It does make un-mounting the cards easier. I bought the one with the HDMI dust cover which fits snugly to the port, I find it more difficult to remove, so if you're planning to use HDMI more often, better don't use the dust cover. Overall, I will still recommend this as it's not expensive plus gives the user a MicroSD card reader on the go. Compared to expansion cards like Transcend's JetDrive Lite which will be problematic to extract files from as it custom shaped to fit inside the card slot of a MacBoo Pro. First, at the time of this writing, the stock image for the "space black" option is a totally different product, which made me a bit nervous. Rest easy, though, it is the right product when it arrives. It holds my 1.5 TB MicroSD card completely flush, quadrupling the amount of storage that came with the MacBook, without sticking out in an annoying way like the stock SD card adapters do. ... show more

I purchased the BaseQi UHS-II Aluminum microSD Adapter (420A) specifically for use with my 14” M3 MacBook Pro, which has a native UHS-II slot. Using a verified UHS-II microSD card capable of >200 MB/s, I tested transfer speeds with this adapter and found them to be roughly half of what the card can do — similar to UHS-I speeds. To rule out variables, I tested the same card and files using a USB-C UHS-II reader, which achieved full speeds. This makes it clear the limitation is with the BaseQi adapter itself. I emailed BaseQi support on August 3rd with detailed test results (also citing other users reporting the same on MacRumors) and followed up a week later. No reply. If this is a known design limitation, it should be clearly stated in the product description. As it stands, the product is advertised as UHS-II compatible, but my experience — and that of others — suggests otherwise. I like the form factor and hope BaseQi addresses this with a firmware or design update, but as it stands, this adapter is not delivering UHS-II performance on a MacBook Pro. ... show more

Im using it with a Samsung pro plus 512gb. i get 80 mb/s read and 50 mb/s write. (EDIT: with the samsung adapter its 125 read and 80 write) the lower speed is not amazing but it is what i expected and works for my usage so i don't have an issue with that but don't expect the rated micro SD speeds with anything other than the brands dedicated card readers. Its also very hard to remove without using some tool (broke my nail trying), so id recommend getting it if you plan on setting and forgetting it and don't mind the low transfer speeds. I got if for just that, i keep video files of lectures etc' on it that i don't need to transfer often and id like to reduce the wear and tear of my ssd. ... show more
