  • Good value and accurate
I mounted the scope on a .308 with the included rings. I zeroed it at 50 yards with 168 gr. match ammo. The outside temperature was 80 degrees F. The optics were clear. The windage and elevations adjustments were accurate and the clicks were clear and crisp. The reticle focus ring moved smoothly, worked as it should and held the focus without the addition of a locking ring. The Parallex adjustment knob moved smoothly as well. The illuminated reticle adjustment knob is tight to turn but works well adjusting from dim to bright. I noticed that once illumination is turned on, the knob has to be turned in the same direction (increasing the brightness) before it turns off. In other words, the knob appears to turn only in one direction. I say "appears" because I did not want to force it in the opposite direction for fear of breaking it. I e-mailed Barska to verify what I found but they never answered my e-mail. Shooting the scope at 100 yards gave similar results. The scope continued to work well after 36 rounds. I got it for $161 and would buy it again. ... show more

  • It's not a Swarovski...
I mounted this scope on a RRA LAR-8 for hunting and long distance range shooting. It is a very good looking scope and seemed to be top quality. I didn't have a boresighter so I just shot it on paper at 25' and had it zeroed in only 4 shots. I then took it out to 200 yds and was cutting bullet holes. I couldn't wait to get it in the field. The first and only hunt I've had it on was a cold rainy day in WV. When I first got out I checked it and everything looked clear even though it had rain drops on it. As I got deeper into the woods it began to fog up and I had to wipe it every once in a while. When it came time to shoot I had an 8 point heading toward me in a full run and when I pulled up it was like shooting in the fog. I could see well enough to get the shot but it was not easy. I've hunted Tasco, Weaver, Redfield, etc. and have never had this problem. This scope is "fogproof" but not if it's 45 degrees and raining. It's still shooting dead on and performs as well as any scope I've ever owned as long as it's dry. Great for the bench but if you're going to the woods leave this one at home. ... show more

  • Good bang for the buck!
A very nice, very clear optic. I mounted it on a Savage 17HMR bolt-action. It's astonishingly clear for a scope in this price range and greatly exceeds a BSA model I had on a Marlin 17HMR. The Illuminated reticle is nice since I will be using it for nighttime predator control. I gave it 4 stars for two reasons. 1) the scope mount/rings included with it were a little cheap looking. It has the 50mm objective so my weaver bases and rings I'd had on another rifle wouldn't sat the scope too low to the barrel because I wrap the scope and rifle in camo burlap. 2) the crosshair adjustment knobs are not easy to turn with your fingers. I did not want to scuff them up with a leatherman tool so I used my fingers but it takes some force to click the knobs. ... show more

  • Liked it so much I ordered 2 more!
Size: 6.5-20x40mm Color: Black
I am no professional shooter but have had the gamut of rifle scopes from UTGs to the Best Hawkes..I have been shooting for the past 10years and I have never given a review on a scope before but I have to for this scope. First focal plane for under 200$? Awesome! No more having to mil at different magnifications! This is now my go to scope.. especially for my 3 air rifles.. true at all magnifications, clear glass, very light and tracks extremely well. Comes with free rings.. nice touch and it has a very nice IL reticule which is very clear. Cant beat it for the $. ... show more

  • not FFP nor mil-dot
Size: 6.5-20x40mm Color: Black
I knew it was too good to be true (finding a FFP scope at this low price). The entire point of a mil-dot scope is that mil stands for milliradian, which means everything is in a nice 1/1000 relationship (i.e. a point-to-point distance ratio of 1 yard (36") at 1000 yards... OR 1 meter at 1000 meters). This scope has a chart roughly based on the size of the average buck (30" at 100 yards). The point of a first focal plane scope is that the reticle zooms with the image, so your dot-to-dot ratio stays the same at any zoom. The reticle on this scope does change size when you zoom, but it is not constant (once again there's a chart showing different dot-to-dot ratios at different zoom powers. If a given measurement ratio is only accurate at a single zoom power then you might as well have a cheaper scope without FFP. ... show more

  • A good introductory front rectal scope
Size: 6.5-20x40mm Color: Black
A good introductory front rectal scope. The glass is kind of garbage, but not so bad you cant hit what you are shooting for. For the money, if you aren't a scope snob, it is fine. You can pay more and get better, but if you are on a budget, this is worth it. We actually used it as a telescope the other night to look at the moon, worked great! Not kidding. ... show more

  • I Highly Recommend It.
Works perfect for the ranges that I hunt at. The side parallax keeps the sight-line clear enough to judge wind and mirage.
