I believe the jacket should be reviewed in the proper context. I lead wilderness trips and make use of technical clothing with the latest materials that provide the maximum performance with the least weight. That is not what this jacket is about. In addition to being an outdoors person, I am an Anglophile and a bit of a closet Luddite. I have coveted a Barbour coat for years. What finally tipped the scale was this fantastic price. On a scale of how much this is like a Barbour jacket, it’s definitely five stars. That’s pretty much why I came to this party. For those interested in detail, it is a boxy design, offset a bit with the waist drawstring. However, like many of these features that employ barrel locks, the adjustment is prone to slippage. I ordered the olive color. I’m guessing I got it. It’s very dark, but not jet black. It’ll do. Feature-wise, it’s about as loaded as you get with a Barbour without adding the options. Love this jacket, great mid-weight wear. As with a lot of Barbour jackets, the sizing is a bit odd. The Large was too narrow for my shoulders, but the XL was too big.

This jacket fit me as though I had it tailored. I love everything about it. It's warm and built to wear with appropriate layering underneath for those wet and raw events. This seller is outrageous. I got charged a $100 restocking fee for the sapper jacket I bought that didn’t fit. $100….. do not buy anything from this seller. Barbour jackets are notoriously difficult to size these people charged me $100 to put it back on a damn shelf. Unbelievable.

    • Beautiful Barbour jacket at a great price

The one thing I've had a problem with in the Barbour wax jackets is that they tend to be very boxy. The Sapper jacket is a more tailored model than others I've tried on. I'm 6', 185lbs and wear a 42 regular size coat and the large fit me perfectly and looks great. The listing is very confusing though. It doesn't state the size. After I ordered it, I read some of the Questions and Answers and it looked like I was supposed to order it from a different seller MBHS so I wasn't sure what size I ordered from Imperial Shoes. I sent the seller a question about the size but didn't see their reply ( to their credit, they did reply a couple of times) so I asked Amazon to contact them. Ultimatley, they shipped the jacket express mail (which they didn't have to do) and I'm very pleased with the jacket. However, Imperial shoes replied and said I was a pest and a "difficult" customer which I thought was unnecessary. If their listing was not so confusing, this could have been avoided. ... show more

This is a great water resistant, mid-weight coat. Not for the coldest weather, but great in that 40-60 range. Very nicely made.
