The sound quality isn't anything to brag about, but for walkie-talkies, it's exactly what you'd expect. I can't speak for the long-term battery life since mine practically lives on the charger, but the few times it hasn't, it's performed quite well. This set was great for the whole family. We like to use these for when we go camping. I was about 900 yards from camp and the audio was a bit crackly when talking to the wife. When I was around 800 years i could hear them all very clearly. And both times were through dense trees and a few hills. Only thing you got to watch out (but i knew this would happen) is that if someone else has these radios, and if you're on the same channel, you can talk to random strangers. So just be careful if your kids are going to use them. there's a lot of weirdos out there. Speaking of kids. my 11, 8, and 5 year old were able to use these just fine. it just took them a moment to get used to the concept of holding down the call button for a second, then speak, then wait another second to release. Battery life, we were out for the whole weekend and the charge lasted us all day. we did turn them off at night and while we were all in camp, so that helps keep the battery too. ... show more
