  • I LIKE IT!
This is a very good SHTF backup food stuff. It tastes like a mixture of spam and canned/tinned corned beef. IT IS VERY SALTY, about like spam. Also when you open the can, it will be swimming in fat. It's what you want for emergency food. I may buy some more, if I can find it at a decent price. BTW, they should rename this product "Banner Sandwich Spread", and stock it in walmarts all over the country. It would then be easy to find and buy. It actually is a real good and spicy sandwich spread, not a sausage. UPDATE 6-19-2021: I am now the proud owner of 21 cases of Banner Sausage for SHTF. ... show more

  • Worst product I have ever bought off Amazon
This is the worst product I have ever purchased off Amazon. The description leads you to believe it is a can of five cooked ready to eat sausage patties. When opened the can contains a product with the consistency of runny oatmeal. There are no pre formed patties and the slop in the can cannot even be formed into patties. I bought this because I wanted to be able to take out a patty pop it in the microwave and make a quick breakfast sandwich. I was very disappointed when I saw what the product was. I tried to fry it up to seperate the fat from the meat but the pieces of meat in the mixture are ground so fine that the fat wont seperate. Its like frying soup. think the mixture must be 70% fat and 30% meat. If I had a dog I might feed it to the dog but since I don't I'm going to wind up throwing out the 11 unopened cans. I must admit I did not read the reviews before buying this product because I figured how badly can you screw up canned sausage patties. BIG MISTAKE. I just hope someone reads this and saves their money because if you buy this you are just throwing your money down the drain. I,m actually surprised Amazon allows this product to be sold on their website. They must have never tried it ti=o verify the quality. ... show more

  • For Gravy and Sauces
Would buy again. Not a good first impression item. However, it can be good in gravy served over biscuits, toast, potatoes, bread, rice, beans, and to spice up other bland foods. Takes some imagination and a good gravy or sauce recipe. Try cooking in a frying pan, stir in some milk and a slurry of flour and milk and thicken until you have a nice gravy. Add a little pepper if you wish. It can also be used as a filler / flavoring mixed with eggs, 2 parts almond flour, 1 part chickpea flour, baking powder, other seasonings like dry mustard and 21 seasoning, a little olive oil making a slightly wet pancake like batter, pouring into hotdog bun molds, then sharp cheddar cheese added on top and gently worked into the batter. Microwave until stiff in the middle, then cooking in an air fryer at about 350 degrees F for 10 or 11 minutes. Great little breakfast sausage and cheese breakfast cakes. They then can be frozen and reheated in the microwave for about a 30 seconds following food safety rules. ... show more

  • "Sausage?" Coarse potted meat.
"Sausage" is a bit of a misnomer - it's basically coarse potted meat, a slurry of finely chopped pork & chicken in a lot of grease, with nitrates. Strong pork potted meat flavor, a bit salty, but It'll satisfy the "greasy breakfast" urge if you're camping or working. If you like the flavor of Armour potted meat, you'll love this; if you're expecting a pork breakfast sausage, you're going to be disappointed. This works in the place of any recipe in which you would've used ground cured pork, like ground ham. For example, it's great with biscuits & sausage gravy, and it works well with hash browns & an over-easy egg. ... show more

Hmm, I took a chance on this despite what a lot of negative reviews shared. It really isnt so bad if you keep your expectations low. This isnt not a can full of sausages (they need to take that out of description), NOR is it a sausage that can be formed into anything, well maybe if carefully mixed with some eggs (and maybe bread crumbs or oats) to bind it and other goodies. Only then it can be made into a patty of the sort. BTW, this is already COOKED. That alone should tell you that is will not just form a patty, so stop expecting it to. It would have to be raw--before the fat had rendered. At best, it would only be crumbles. Out of the can just heated up? It's loose meat. And you know what? What it 100% reminds me of is CORNED BEEF HASH, without the potato cubes. Or sausage hash (this uses chicken and pork). If you have had that, then you know that the consistency is just like slop. A bizarrely delicious slop. Not a go to item but it adds variety to a pantry, to camping supplies, to emergency pantry. I really dont mind this at all. Great addition to my preps and for times I want to make add extra "meat" (lol) to a can of hash, or can grab a can of potatoes (or grab a potato) and make a quick hash. Or use it to flavor something. Just know it has a canned corned beef hash vibe. I'd even consider sharing this with my labs, but the sodium content is high. I will instead stick with their 100% pork that I keep in preps for them just pork cooked in can Anyway, I wont stock pile this stuff, but it is a welcome addition to my pantry, and I plan to buy some more. It is really not that bad! Edit to fix typos, and to say that I though this was worth it when it was around $13 for the pack (march & april 2022), even $15. But now it jumped to $34 in a matter of a couple of days? Unless desperate, no. I know canned meat has jumped significantly, but yeesh. Rating stays same because I dont rate on price. ... show more

  • Horrible !
The picture of the product showing sausage patties is not what you get..what is inside the can is the consistency of chili..not patties. The taste is similar to corn beef hash but not as good. I have no idea what I was eating..it tasted horrible and smells like dog food...actually looks like canned dog food. Two hours later my stomach was hurting and I had to run to the bathroom several times. It may be ok if you were trapped in a snow storm.& had to eat something to survive..but otherwise I would never order this again. As I write this 3 hours later after eating it...a horrible taste is still in my mouth. I had to give it a one star to be able to write this...but I would really give it a -50. ... show more

  • Not sure who this is for
Well, as the title says I'm not sure who would want this mess. These cans all came dented, not in a, "Oh, the minimum wage warehouse guys weren't being careful," kind of way, but instead it seems to be the very soft aluminum (I think) cans that can't handle abuse. We're told to be skeptical of dents, but I don't know, I don't want to toss a whole twelve pack of cans or whatever it is. I took it all out to inspect and a single, lonesome can was not dented. Taste is... Not great, to say the least; nothing that made me sick because it went foul. There is no meatball or patty to be found inside, but instead it's a sloppy, oily mixture with meat particles suspended in liquid. Don't get me wrong, I still managed to save the meal with some spice, careful application of bread crumbs, and of course an additional helping of fried, crispy onions. Made decent sloppy joe breakfast sliders, but I'd never dump this mess in on some poor eggs as is suggested on the can. I had to strain the oil out and got far, far too much out of that. Now, if the intent was for backpacking this all might make sense. Maybe. Only with less of the disgusting oil, stronger cans, and a much longer shelf life would I bring this with me out past the RV park. Any deeper than that, as they are now, and you're risking it. If you go way out there, real camping, even the slightest chance of botulism is not something you can afford. There are other cans you could bring that won't make you feel like you're playing Russian roulette with your gut. ... show more
