I bought this as a spare when some buddies come over to play on my table . It has been received well my those that have used it. My only concern would be the joint screwing into wood. That is not a problem for me as it wwill not be unscrewed often if ever again. If used as a portable stick that might be a problem over time.

I'd give it that last star except for one thing. Though it says 'pro taper', it's actually a conical, unless the 'pro' length is under 6 inches or so. Very solid feeling cue, hits well and is workable as a break cue, and certainly solid enough to not have issues with breaking. The shaft is thicker than I like, but I want to use a closed bridge and that just doesn't work with the taper on this. I love the feel of the wrap, I believe it's shrink to fit, it's got a good texture and not at all slippery. The tip that comes on it has way too much curve to it, it's tough to get it chalked all the way around and you end up with chalk leaking onto the ferrule because of it. A new tip is an easy fix though. The weight feels good at 19oz. The joint pin is one of the newer designs that have been coming out of China lately, likely made of aluminum which helps keep the overall weight low, with a ball screw type thread. It's a very tight fit the first few times you screw it together, but eases off after a few days of playing. For a beginner or early intermediate this would be a good choice, it will last for a long time and play well.

The Banly cue has a nice hit to it. Mine weighed in at 18.4 oz, so their description stating 18-19 oz is true. The length is 58” as in the title, even though the description later on states it’s 57” long. The shaft felt good using a closed bridge except for the fact there was a noticeable ding in it. I looked around for my glass burnishing tool to try and remove the ding but unfortunately I could not find it. So it’s something I could feel with most strokes which was a bummer, I’ll tell you what. None of my other cue sticks have the 3/8x8 thread joint pin so unfortunately, I couldn’t try swapping out the shaft. I’m hoping that the wood thread in the shaft will not wear over time with repeated assembly/disassembly. I did tap it and some fine sawdust came out. I’m hoping it’ll settle after breaking down the cue a few more times. I was not a fan of the so-called “Leather Grip” with its snakeskin pattern. I usually favor Irish linen. It was probably the thing that felt the cheapest about the cue. Everything else seemed pretty nice for the price point, including that it’s made of Canadian maple. The tip was even pre-shaped to some extent although I used a shaping tool to round it a bit more. Overall, it’s a decent cue. I got the brown stained cue, which I think looked the handsomest of the 3 available color options. The included joint protectors was a nice accessory as well.

The Banly 58" Canadian Maple Pool Cue surprised me in a lot of good ways. It comes in pretty basic packaging, so if you're gifting it you may want to repackage it, but once unwrapped, the cue itself looks excellent. The fit and finish are clean, the lacquered base shines beautifully, and the cue is perfectly straight right out of the box. The grip area isn’t leather as the listing wording might imply, it’s a textured vinyl wrap with a 3D-printed snake-skin style pattern, but it still feels comfortable and secure in the hand. Performance-wise, the cue plays really well. The 12.5mm leather tip holds chalk nicely (especially nano-chalk), and the weight and balance feel just right for smooth, controlled shots. It hits solidly without any strange vibrations, and the maple shaft moves cleanly through the bridge. My only long-term concern is the joint design: the bottom half screws directly into the wood of the upper half with no metal insert. It feels sturdy for now, but depending on how often the cue is assembled and broken down, that joint could wear quicker than a fully reinforced connection. Overall, the Banly 58" Canadian Maple Pool Cue is a beautiful, well-balanced cue with excellent playability and a premium feel for the price. The joint design might affect long-term durability, but in day-to-day use around the table, it looks great, feels great, and performs impressively well.
