This book-keep came quickly and securely. It was easy to put together. I love the somewhat generic design. It wasn't generic to me. It is just right. I purchased this one because I read both types of books, hard-copy and ebooks with audiobooks. My Signature fits perfectly in the trough made for that purpose. The circle cutout for a cup is big enough for any but a very large water bottle or thermos. I haven't been using it all that long but my feeling is that it will continue to prove itself as a valued book-friend for yourself or for anyone you purchase it for as a gift.

This is a fine book holder for setting down a small-sized book if you want to keep your page but don't have a bookmark handy—I like the design and it's fairly sturdy. In fact, the only reason it doesn't get a full five stars is that, in their zeal to make the front board of the triangle-holder portion look smooth and seamless, they left the rough end of the front board exposed at the top-rear of the triangle, meaning there's a pretty sizable space made of unpolished wood back there. I'd be more comfortable letting this holder come into contact with the paper interior of a book, to be blunt, if that rough surface weren't the main thing that books would be coming in contact with. But since I do a lot of my reading with a Kindle Oasis e-reader anyway, this book-rest will still very much serve my purposes as a comfortable place to set my Kindle while I read or let it charge on my desk. The triangle rest and front groove are both too small and narrow for anything thicker than a tablet, however; this isn't a book-rest for setting down a physical book with the pages open while you read. You need something heavy-duty for that, preferably with page-holders to keep the book from closing on its own. The wide recess for cups is a fairly nice touch, but since this is made of *wood,* you may want to get a small-sized drink coaster to set inside it. I could see condensation eventually damaging the base, otherwise. For my part I've taken to setting a small scented candle in the base... with something underneath it to prevent any heat from transferring from candle-jar to wood, just in case. I very much like the owl-on-a-crescent-moon design, by the way. It's very relaxing and gives this holder some decorate value when not in use.

While I love books, I got this to use as an iPad stand. It’s nicer-looking than a lot of folding book stands or tablet stands, and it takes up less space than some, plus it has storage under the triangle area. It’s very lightweight wood. This is described as oak, which I expect to be heavier and denser, although I’m not an expert. Some of the edges feel rough and unfinished, as if they need sanding and maybe sealing. It looks pretty anyway, and the owl design is crisp and even. The wood is darker than it appears in the photos, so the design does blend in more than expected. (Since the stand is slightly shiny, in photographs it looks lighter than it does in person.) I also expected the artwork to be etched, but it looks like a surface application, so I wonder if it will wear off over time. The stand was easy to put together, and it packs flat for storage or travel. If you don’t intend on taking it apart again, it would probably benefit from some wood glue for stability. The slot comfortably holds my iPad and iPhone (in their cases), and the whole thing looks awesome even when there’s nothing on it. Is the circular drink cut-out more useful than a plain flat surface? Not sure, but it’s cool that it can also hold other things — a plant, a pencil cup, a candle. The stand portion could also hold things other than a book or tablet — a sign, a clipboard, a small piece of artwork, a notebook, etc. I may be using it for all of the above and more, because unlike with a folding stand, I’ll be leaving this out where I can see it and it will always be accessible. The one thing I don’t anticipate using this for is to hold open books face down, like in some of the product photos. (Personally, it feels like I’ll damage a book that way.) It does seem like that would work best for smaller books, like novels, if you’re thinking of using it that way. Oversized books like some crafting or art books get a bit unwieldy, since the stand isn’t very tall, and big books flop out beyond the stand’s base. Overall, despite its imperfections, I really like this little stand. It’s visually appealing, and I can use it for more than I originally intended. Rounding up to five stars on the rating because it mostly does what it should, and it looks so much better than my other stands.
