I appreciate that I can find similar products on Amazon, there aren’t many options though. My daughter loved it. I had played way better ones, so I know the metal pieces in the base is a bad design. Depends on where it lands on your foot or which part of your foot is kicking it, it can hurt. I’m returning it and give another option who says they have soft base a try. This thing is so much fun!!! I'm use to the Vietnamese style version which imo is superior but this version is just as fun! I play it with the guys at the office or with my friends off work. I bought the 6 pack but have been using the same one for about a week and a half. The jianzi can fall apart at times but the design is simple and easy to put back together. We traveled to China a couple years ago and saw people at city parks playing with these just like hackey sacks. We bought a couple there, but due to the nature of their construction (they are, after all, made of feathers) they eventually broke. These are just like the ones we bought in China, and even have Mandarin characters on the little aluminum disks. They make a satisfying clinky jingle when hit.
