Our original and authentic mats were the first of their kind, developed 30 years ago in South Korea, where floor-based living is part of a centuries'-old tradition. I’ve tried using a couple of cheap mats from other brands, but their quality just did not meet my expectations. This mat is the answer. It’s a bit pricey but so so worth it. We air dried it for 2 days as there was a mild plastic-y smell but it’s totally gone now. I love how it looks! My baby is totally loving it and it’s helping him crawl. (Update bottom) BEST PURCHASE! Honestly, when I first saw this, I loved the idea of this huge foam mat. But when I saw the price, I thought the sellers were crazy for the pricing😂 I take it ALL back. This foam carpet feels very nice, it’s not too flat, it feel thick, feels like a yoga mat. I don’t have floor, only carpet in rooms and living room, only reason I purchased this was because I wanted something flat for my baby toys, I bought a duck toy that only works on floor. My baby LOVES his duck toys, but we only have carpet and would use it on a large moving box for him to see it move. This mat was just the best and perfect large size! Duckies move around it perfectly! And I love how now my little one can have more space for him to move around on the mat, since I don’t like my baby being on carpet just because I feel like carpet is a bit scratchy for his sensitive skin. I definitely recommend for anyone who is interested. CLEANING AND SMELL! I will say it does have a weird smell. BUT! That can be fixed! I open this mat the same day it got delivered and clean it when I opened the box because of that weird smell. Now the smell is gone! I love that the seller also packs a sheet that tell you how to clean this mat so you know what is safe and okay to use. This is what I use. - white vinegar (3 lids) - water (1 cup) - Dapple baby: Bottle and dish soap (3 pumps) I mix these in a bowl, and get a small rag and just dip it in there and soak it, and just clean it all over the mat front and back. Then with another rag I clean it again with water only, and dry it with a third rag. The smell is gone, I feel comfortable with it and safe for baby. Any extra cleaning water I just put it in a container for me to use for any spit ups, stains, or when it’s time to clean up again. It’s easy! UPDATED!!!!! I haven’t had this item a week. It’s only been day 2. I got this May 22. It got dented so fast and my baby weight around 18lb. Today is May 24… these dents won’t go back to normal as it said in the description. So for a pricing like that I think that’s some scam. And false description. I contacted Amazon since Amazon are the one that sells. All they can do is refund you once you send back. Not a big issue but if it dents now, no doubt it is going to dent again with a new one. They can’t even give a partial refund. They don’t want to lose ANYTHING, but it’s only okay for them to have their customers lose money or other sellers. Ridiculous. Amazon very greedy, never had experience this from them. There were always options and solutions. Ridiculous they can’t do better. They need to lower the pricing more. This should be worth at least $100 only. Since the dents stays and never goes back. While this mat is on the more expensive end, what you are paying for is durability and structure. This mat is heavy and won't slide across hardwood flooring the moment your toddler steps on it and doesn't require a heavy piece of furniture to hold it in place. It's material is thick and feels good underfoot or during wrestling sessions. It has also withstood my tuxedo cat's claws surprisingly well. Note that this cat has mauled another cheaper mat that we got to the point it was repurposed as an "arts and crafts" floor protector. We got the large one to use as a play space for our livingroom, and it's been great. The double-sided design has also been a boon, since we play letter games with the ABC side and cars on the streets of the other side. I would absolutely buy this mat again. 5/5, exceeded expectations. ... show more

Baby Care makes some great play mats. A bunch of moms in my baby group had recommended them, and after getting sick of the puzzle piece one I'd already purchased, I decided to upgrade. Of course the pattern I liked the best was the most expensive ("haute collection" – sounds so fancy), but I figured that if I was going to own this thing for years and it was going to live in my living room, I should not totally hate it. (But if you don't care and want to save some money, Buy Buy Baby sells a few of the crazier looking patterns [we'll call them "bold"] for much less, plus you can use a 20% off coupon, bringing it to about half the price of this one.) The mat is super cushy, so when my 8-month-old randomly falls backward or sideways from sitting, we just laugh together as softly cushions her head. I also like that it's two-sided, so if I want a tasteful rug-like look, I can use the gray petal side, but if I want something more fun and colorful, I can use the other side with shapes and letters. I also thought that side could be a learning opportunity for my baby – like, "Find me an E!" or "Show me a triangle!" – once she gets old enough to have any idea what I'm saying. These mats are also very easy to clean, which is nice – I purchased some eco spray, and I occasionally remove the 8 million toys from it and wipe it down with a paper towel. I also purchased the Baby Care playpen in the white & blue color, which fits the large size Baby Care play mat perfectly and goes pretty well color-wise with this particular mat. I really don't understand why they don't make it in all white, or white & gray perhaps, but it was the least daycare-looking playpen I could find and it isn't bad. Maybe all-white would make baby think she's in a mental institution? Anyway, it looks as good in our living room as a giant plastic structure can, and I'm very happy with both purchases. (The playpen can also be purchased from Buy Buy Baby with a 20% off coupon, making it slightly more affordable – again, figuring this is an investment that we will hopefully use for years to come...) ... show more

    • IT DOES NOT SMELL! Gorgeous, durable, mat. I LOVE IT!
Okay, I want to start by saying I am a "toy snob" and an American from the South with a sensitive nose. I am really snobby about baby products, and I am especially sensitive to "smells". Chemical smells in particular. Of course I am worried about the safety of baby products in general; the idea of noxious fumes or off-gassing of bad toxic stuff is something I am paranoid about. I use "green" cleaning products wherever possible but I still open the windows and doors. So you have an idea of the type of consumer and Mom I am. I was wary about buying this. I heard the puzzle piece foam mats get nasty with food, dog hair, and whatever other crumbs and drool accumulating in between the pieces. Not to mention Baby-Grabs-All learning to pull it apart...I was also worried about her pulling up pieces and gnawing on them. And how do you clean the foam mats? I wasn't sure about the puzzle piece for those reasons. Then I found this mat on Amazon as well as the Dwinguler. Dwinguler cost twice as much. I was still tempted to get Dwinguler because I had read that THIS mat, the Baby Care, smelled, and lots of reviewers questioned the safety. I research the European toy standards. I saw the test results that the mat passed whatever standards and didn't have phalates and "bad" chemicals in it. I thought, you know what? I have never checked to see if a fisher price toy passed a test. I have never checked blankets. Blocks. Teethers. I trust the labels. So, I decided to go for it. If it smelled bad, I was going to return it. Well, let me say this! The mat just came and IT. IS. AWESOME. Oh my gosh what a gorgeous, bright, thick, colorful mat! This is exactly what I have been looking for. And guess what?! No chemical smell! The only smell that I perceived was the smell you would have if you rolled up a yoga mat (or really, anything) and put it in a box wrapped in plastic and let it sit in 90 degree weather for a few hours (cause that's what happened; I live in the South). The odor was more when you opened the box versus once the mat was out. Meaning, there was a staleish smell in the box (not surprising---smell any cardboard box that has been on a UPS truck). But the mat, once I opened it, did not smell. If you put your nose up the mat it smells like a yoga mat. Which basically doesn't really smell. I also got to thinking; Baby sits in the bathtub, chews on shampoo bottles, her baby hairbrush, mommy's phone (I know, horrible) and lots of other "non-teether" stuff. I am deciding to trust the manufacturer (why not? because it is made in Korea?! Isn't EVERYTHING made overseas now? And honestly, think about Melissa and Doug products that are PAINTED and we let kids chew on those, granted it is "safe" paint---but it is paint! Just saying...) ANYWAY, I am rambling on over all this because I know that clearly it is a big question and issue for many. Just wanted to share how I decided to have peace of mind over the mat. I also started wondering about daycare. What are in the mats they buy? See? Who knows. Anyway, this may is gorgeous, and looks very durable, about a half inch thick- not too too thick but not too thin. Will be great for my 8 month old as she rolls around and so forth. Love this! I bought this so that our dog has something soft when he jumps off the couch. The design is nice, looks like a rug at first glance, but doesn’t require the same maintenance as a rug. The waterproof makes it easy to clean spills and doggie accidents! I plan on buying more!

    • What a Bargain!! Try it!!
This playmat is awesome! Super cute, easy to clean and provides the best protection for your little ones!! Adding this to your baby's room will automatically brighten it up and the room will look so cute! This type of playmat is very popular with Koreans and since I am Korean, I knew I would eventually buy one of these when I got pregnant. I was honestly skeptical about the Pingko mat because it is so much cheaper compared to the other brands I have seen at the store. A normal mat like this would cost around $160. So naturally, I went out to the Korean store and bought one for $160 because I assumed this mat was inferior due to the price. Stupid assumption! Couple of months later, I decided I wanted another mat for the living room but didn't want to shell out the $160 so I ordered this. I knew this mat was slightly smaller but that was fine since it was an extra mat. I have to say, the colors and pictures on this are so vibrant and much cuter than the first one I bought! Wish I had tried this first! The size difference is hardly noticeable. I honestly couldn't tell that this was smaller just by looking at it. Please don't hesitate and try it! P.S. - My mat did have a smell when it arrived and it drove me crazy. A week later, the smell was still there and I was debating if I should return it. I took it outside, washed it with laundry detergent and water, dried it in the sun and the smell disappeared completely. I was shocked. I thought the smell would come back after a day or two but it didn't. It got rid of it 100%. Since the smell is gone, I am completely satisfied with this product. ... show more
