The media could not be loaded. So I got this to crush some unrefined salt that had larger grains that would not dissolve in liquid. So I thought if I ground it to a smaller grain it would. After receiving this I tested it immediately with the salt and it ground this salt, that was already pretty fine, to an even finer grain. And this definitely helped with dissolving these larger salts. Although it's a hand grinder, you can actually fit a good amount of stuff in the chamber to grind. Adjusting the size of grain is easy, just turn the knob on the bottom (see my video) until you can see the space between the two ceramic surfaces get larger. It's a little trial and error with the size because there's really no specific settings. As you can see in my video, I crushed a bunch of large pills using the finest setting. And although it took a few back and forth turns because the pills were so large, it ground it up to a fine powder. WARNING: Fairly easy to clean, but I would stick to products that are completely dry. I tried crushing some old popcorn flavored salt that was all clumped up due to it absorbing some moisture and I had a hard time cleaning it after because it stuck to all the ceramic. So make sure whatever you put in there is very dry. Also IF you have to take it apart to clean it make sure to remember the order of disassembly because if you put it back together wrong the ceramics get a little lop sided and it doesn't crush as evenly. Learn from my mistakes! There's a spring inside this that needs to be placed specifically back the way it was. If anything, avoid having to take it apart, which means not putting anything moist inside this. By keeping this dry you really don't have to wash it that much, if at all. Just tap it lightly upside down or use a dry toothbrush to lightly brush the exposed ceramic grinder. I can't stress enough to never use this when still wet or damp. If you do wash it make sure it's completely dry, or else the product will stick to the ceramics and clog it up. Overall I'm very pleased with this hand grinder and the size of grain it crushes product into.

Works great for feeding tube applications, and also great for those with less dexterity/strength in their hands. We were using a small pill crusher from the hospital that took almost all my strength (mind you, I'm pretty strong) to operate and was inconsistent. Since purchasing this grinder, we save a ton of time and energy and my fiance is able to grind up his own meds without much effort. It leaves a consistently fine powder. because of this, we have way less problems with meds clogging his PEG tube. Only gave 4 stars cuz it's a bit clunky at times but otherwise always works as expected. One thing to note, when you wash it, make sure you dry it thoroughly or it's a mess on the next use. I found a hair dryer works great to dry out the top compartment.

I was disappointed with how big and bulky it was....and the handle is very inconvenient...truth of the matter, I hate it it doesn't grind pills into fine powder the way it was advertised.

This is the best pill crusher we have found! My brother needs to crush many pills at once to mix in liquid and squirt through a feeding tube in his stomach. It was taking forever, as well as hurting his hand, for every feeding. This helps SO much!

The product makes it easy to grind small and large pills for people who have a hard time swallowing pills. Just a note you should not use the product for grinding capsules. That is usually what the doctor says.

Use this to grind up very hard 1gram sodium chloride tablets, can do 100 tabs in 3 fills into grinder and bottom holds over 50 ground tabs. VERY EASY TO USE- esp with my arthritic hands. Grinds very well with a few quick turns!!! Was very torn on what to buy, worried about losing too much meds or if blades could handle it if I used an electric coffee bean grinder or food processor. This grinder works so well, I was shocked at how easily and quickly it ground everything up!!! Purchased with capsule filler and 1000 size00 gelatin caps, and was best purchase made toward health and $saving possible!!! Here is my post fro. The capsule filler... may help all understand the ease and savings! Easy to use. Due to Dysautonmia (with POTS) sodium is a necessary addition to daily meds and supplements. The sodium tablets easily upset stomach, esp in my child who inherited the disorder, so grinding the tablets and putting into these gelatin caps make it easier on stomach, removes after-taste (and feel on the tongue in tablet form+ prevents foaming up with drink used to swallow). Being able to make 100 1gram caps at a time is SOOOOO HELPFUL!!!! Prior to this I was crushing one tab at a time, then pouring carefully into caps and trying not to spill... extremely time consuming and painful on hands... plus messy!!! This is so easy, hardly any mess and can make 100 in about the time it took to make 10! Bought 1000 gelatin caps and pill grinder. Smartest move ever! Saves so much $ by purchasing Sodium Chloride tablets by the 100 and making our own 1gram caps!! We- need 2 grams, 2×daily (per person)- so and save instead of spending many times more for brand name caps would need 16 caps daily at $40+/100 caps(6.25 days) per bottle opposed to 4 caps daily for $10/100 tablets (25 days) I crush and fill in under 20 min and save $150 every 25 days for probably the rest of both our lives!!! Easily smartest purchase ever, esp since tablets we a fight to get child to take and I couldn't afford brand name caps! Now less POTS episodes, ceberal sodium wasting syndrome effects, and Vasovagal symptoms and more $$$ in my pocket book, esp since insurance doesn't cover this necessary medical need.

10 vitamin size pills all ground at the same time, just as they are, no cutting first. End result is not the same consistency, some powder, some shavings, some crumbles, which may be a problem. Grinder works well for medicating my animals that won’t take pills.
