You can pretty much tell that this bookshelf was rushed to market. Out of the package a couple of the bags were unsealed held the tools were open meaning that there were loose screws and parts laying out. That was the first sign that quality got forgotten here. Next, the metal towers were not even and are actually off by half an inch. Some of the parts were not labeled. After a couple hours of frustration due to the poor instructions and uneven metal, I had to jimmy the shelves on there where two actually hang over the ledge where all of the shelves should look even. The criss-cross backing went in the middle, but in the instructions it is supposed to go at the bottom. I have put together quite a few bookshelves in my day and while this one was not the worst to put together, it certainly ranks near the bottom. The directions are all pictures that are quite vague. You get your standard allen wrenches that everyone adores. The paint on the metal is very thin and if you scratch it with more than a fingernail, it will start to peel. The "wood", aka chipboard, is thin and pretty cheap and thin. Be careful putting the screws in as you can almost start to hear and feel the chipboard start to break apart. I took a picture of mine, it looks decent, but it just lacks quality. This market is pretty saturated and I think you can find better quality options that will not have you pulling your hair out with subpar materials and instructions.

This is sort of nice to look at. Obviously if you are buying a corner shelf like this one it's less about storage and function, more about decoration. The item itself is fairly easy to put together. The instructions are clear enough for one page. Yes, I put one of the upright legs round the wrong way and realized it once almost fully assembled. But that's ok because it's just three screws you need to pull out. It does look nice with that dark stained wood and the screw holes are very well hidden as you go in from the sides, and the top has top down screw holes. All in all I'm happy with the appearance of it. It holds a few items we just didn't have a place to store. The issue is that it isn't terrible sturdy. You really do have to find a corner and press it to the wall or use the wall tie thingy provided. There is a wobble to it. Once I pressed it in that corner it was ok but just be careful about where you put it, or use the wall tie thingy if it's not tight to the wall in a corner like you see here. Is it worth $50? I thought the price was fair, but again, it's decorative and not really functional. I do like it though.

It quickly assembles itself when you take it out of the box and try to make it stand on its own. Be careful! The shelves are not secure. They plop into place, or in my case plop down on my head. They hurt, so be careful and stand back when you open the frame. Once I recovered from my near demise, the bookshelf was fully assembled all on its own. Put it in place and you are ready to go with instant shelving. Be sure to read the measurements prior to ordering. This is a small shelving unit. The shelves are laminated fiberboard, so they are heavy. Five stars for because it was almost instantly assembled. No tools were required. Minus a bunch of stars for trying to knock me out cold. Minus a star for the cheap laminated shelves. If I had to assemble these shelves, I would have given them a 2 or 3 star rating for quality and aesthetics. I was kind and gave it back a star because of it's self assembly. Overall, three stars with a cautionary tale to watch your head, hands, and fingers when you first take it out of the box. Do not get in its way as it basically assembles itself.

The product page for this is not live, and I don't have access to the original blurb I read when I requested this, but it did say it could be used outside on a porch or balcony to hold plants. After examining it, I'm not sure it would hold up for long if you did that. This is a fairly cheap metal and laminate-over-plywood bookcase, and I think the metal would quickly rust and the coating on the shelves would warp and peel off. It's too bad, because that is what I got it for. It's too cheap-looking to want to use it inside, but maybe I'll put it in the garage. There's really no assembly. You simply fold the shelves down and then push down to snap them in place. There is a set of four casters you can screw into the bottom that work as levelers if you have an uneven floor. It's fine for what it is, just be aware that it's college dorm-level furniture.

This is actually a really nice shelf for the price. I've bought and ordered so much furniture online over the years, and you never know how it'll turn out, especially because so often it arrives damaged. They packaged this shelf well, even using little extra scrap pieces of their wood on the ends outside of the Styrofoam to take the impact of hits while in transit. Such a good idea! It was easy enough to assemble and looks good set up. It's a pretty dark wood, that matches what is shown in the photos well. I was able to put it together myself without an extra set of hands and using the tools they provide. The shelves hold plenty of weight. I've got them loaded up with cook books and even a few Dutch ovens, and I've had no problems so far. This is a very nice, large, shelf for the price.

This is not a shelf I would purchase again. It's pretty rickety, it's small, it's not as nice as it is in the pictures. I really think the photo might even be of a whole different product. Mine looks more like something you could get at a big lots than a nice piece of furniture. Despite being sorta junky I will say if you stand back, and put books on it, and don't look at it too hard, and tuck it into a corner, it admittedly won't look too bad. Just don't look at it too hard. It does, like one reviewer said, basically assemble itself by the shelves just plopping into place. I, too, gave it a star back for that as otherwise this is just a low-quality shelf that's not special enough to be in its price point at all.
