Well built suitcase with excellent zippers and quality. The handle however is so tight it is very difficult to hold with a hand. I hope it stretches out but for now it’s not useful. Suitcase is lightweight and rolls easily. Inside is designed well but space is a little smaller than my existing Samsonite.

I would actually give this suitcase a 4+ star rating if it was possible. I bought this Away suitcase to replace an old and well-used soft-side Samsonite spinner suitcase, and used it on a nearly 3-week int'l vacation. It rolled perfected on smooth, hard surfaces, and did ok but not great on uneven surfaces like cobbles. However to be clear, I'm not sure there is a spinner out there that would do great on uneven surfaces, so no demerits for that. The compression pad and expansion zipper both worked great, and I hope to never need to use the exceptional warranty coverage. The only thing that really didn't work for me were the zipper pockets on the front flap. They literally would only be usable for extremely flat stuff. It was really difficult to even unzip and get my hand in to either of the front pockets when the rest of the suitcase was tightly packed. Gussets or a tiny bit of extra fabric on the front to give the pockets slightly more space for increased usability (like my old Samsonite had) would have brought my rating up.

Away Softside Bigger Carry-On Suitcase, 23 Inch Lightweight, Expandable High-Strength Nylon Luggage With Spinner Wheels, Meets Requirements for Most Major Airlines, Jet Black I travel a lot- At least 3-4 trips a year but that number will go up soon when I retire. For my husband's 55th birthday- I invested in a set of luggage that would last him thru our future travels and I chose Away brand for that gift. That has been 5 years ago and 15-20 trips! We have been very happy with that luggage, so much so that when I got the opportunity to have some for myself, I happily jumped in! There are things about hard sided luggage that make me prefer soft sided luggage. As a female I pack my clothes and then use my clothing as padding for all of my toiletries and haircare essentials. With a hard sided suitcase, they are split in half and sometimes its harder to get things arranged PLUS it is just awkward opening a suitcase that has half it's weight in the lid and that's why I chose soft sided over the hard shell. I have already travelled with this bag and it lived up to all of my expectations of AWAY brand luggage! The wheels glide across surfaces with little effort from me, the zippers are top quality and the water resistant material on the outside of the bag is very durable. I was able to pack 4 days clothing plus all my girl stuff easily into this one carry on bag! Inside the bag is a work of art! There are four zippered areas: Two in the divider, one in the top side near the handle and one in the "lid". The outside has two discrete zippered compartments as well as an expansion zipper to help you make just a bit extra room for the stuff you buy on your trip, and of course there is the compression pad that you can compress by pulling the nylon straps to hold it all down. The bag is super easy to handle as well. There is a hand handle on the top and side, plus a hidden hand hold on the underside of the bag, making it easier to pick up and lay on its back to get your stuff out at the hotel. I also want to mention- I also got the matching large soft sided bag and its features are identical.

UGH! When I purchased this item, there were 14 total reviews - All of them Vine reviews where the reviewer got the item free. Of course, a free item rarely disappoints. Well, I paid for mine and I'm disappointed. I was expecting this item to be bigger than what I received, as I'm trying to max out my carry on capacity. My issues: 1. It's smaller than expected. 2. The zipper is light duty and will fail. I'm trying to replace a 27 year old roller board - purchased when they were slightly bigger than todays carry-on bags. I can't comment on functionality because I'm not going to use the bag - this one is going back and my search for a replacement will continue.

Very good quality Softside Bigger Carry-On Suitcase by Away. I travel frequently with my dog so I am packing all sorts of things in my carry-on to have at my fingertips for myself and my pup. This Bigger Carry-on by Away has a lot of room and 2 zippered pockets on the front for easy access to travel documents and other essentials. The telescoping handle moves smoothly, the 360° spinner wheels maneuver through a busy airport with ease and there are grab handles on the top, side and bottom. TSA locks are not built-in on this one but a lock to loop through the zipper pulls is provided as well as a laundry bag and luggage tag. The interior is set up with a large zip mesh pocket on the lid. The main compartment has a panel with 2 mesh zip pockets, large compression straps to hold in clothing or packing cubes and a smaller zip pocket at the top of the compartment – loads of organization. In addition to all of this, the suitcase has expansion! Up to 2” of extra space and for an over packer like myself that is amazing! Another reviewer mentioned that this suitcase weighs nearly 2 pounds more than the hardside carry-on, which does add a little when lifting it into the overhead bin but doesn’t matter getting the bag onto the plane as carry-ons are not weighed prior to flight. I would recommend using a suitcase protector to keep the outside from getting dirty or worn when sliding around in the overhead bin and it keeps my suitcases looking new for much longer. Overall, this is a well-constructed suitcase that is built to last (if taken care of). The interior space and expansion are great and it has a LIFTIME WARRANTY! Lots to love on this bag.
