World traveler here! I've seen and used it all, including every brand of cheap/budget luggage. But, now that I'm older and experienced, I have realized that spending money on quality luggage upfront will save you from spending unneccessary money in the long run. Away is one of the few brands that I haven't had the pleasure of trying, so being able to check out this luggage was very exciting to me. The first thing I noticed is that it is really light for a hardshell luggage! I've been using a Tumi fabric carryon lately because the fabric carryons have always seemed lighter to me. But, fabric isn't as water repellent and doesn't protect your items as well when TSA/the airport flings your luggage around like a children's toys. The wheels on this suitcase are the glorious 360 degree movement wheels that make me feel like a total boss as my luggage mirrors my movement. No forcing or shoving as is the case with cheap luggage. The trolley handle has two height settings and easily locks into place with an easy press button, so if you have arthritis or strength issues in your hands, you will be able to use the handle easily. I have elderly parents and appreciate when things are easy for them to use too! There is interior organization system to keep your clothing/items in place and easy to find. I also love the TSA approved lock mechanism that is built into the suitcase (no carrying and potentially losing small keys and locks!). I always lock my suitcases when I leave my hotel room or check my luggage at a resort, etc. for additional peace of mind. A couple of other worthy mentions are the inclusion of a laundry bag (could also be used for undergarments or shoes), scuff remover pad, and QR code for instructions/information on getting started with your new luggage. The limited lifetime warranty is another point of mention as Away will stand behind their products. This is a big deal since a nice piece of luggage is an investment. Highly recommend!

Has Hidden, Pull Up-Handle for easier movement thru a travel station, standard length to accommodate backpack/purse/pillow/etc ..... Smooth Swivel Wheels, roll quietly with little effort .... and on the bottom a 'hand notch' to help when lifting the bag, for better grip, really like this Combination Lock built-in, and secures the pull-tabs with a snap into place ... TSA Lock chamber for Security to access the case if necessary, and not be breaking it open (prevents damage) ..... Numbers can be changed to your liking Dimensions: Including wheels and Handle protrusion: 22 1/2 length x 16 wide x 9 1/4 inches thick (Does fit under seat of United airplane) ...Wheels are inset to base a bit: 21 3/4 inches without wheels) Interior Usable Space:20 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 8 inches deep, though if stuffed full max can get 8 3/4 with flaps in place .... One flap has two zipper mesh/nylon pockets, cardboard covered, and would be loose without a screw to strap ... Can remove with a screwdriver if you don't like it .... This is replacing a 15+ year old ballistic nylon carry on roller that has served me admirably, and was a quality purchase back when. The Away hardshell is better in every single way. The hardshell has a TSA compliant lock that the zippers secure into so the hardshell is secure. The handles on top and side of the bag are slim but allow for a solid grab and the telescoping handle has two extensions that when in place do not have any play at all. The wheels are rubberized but turned freely when on all 4 and track predictably if you want to pull it on 2 wheels. The inside is where the Away truly shines. My old luggage had one slim large pocket on the back of the zipper panel and two slim luggage straps. The Away unfolds into two equal compartments and feels massive. One side has two beefy straps to secure luggage as well as two large mess pockets and a small mess pocket. It also came with a simple luggage bag (but I prefer compression cubes) and an eraser for scuffs on the exterior hardshell. The other side features a taut mesh across the entire compartment to hold items in place and a massive mesh pocket on the top of it. I suppose a few straps inside this compartment would be nice but it is meant for larger items to be held in by the netting. The overall footprint is smaller and lighter than the bag it is replacing while offering for interior space and a quality that improves upon a piece of luggage that was quite nice already. I can’t speak to the value for the price because I have not purchased luggage in decades. It does have a premium price tag but it is backed by a premium quality and feature rich hardshell luggage.
