    • These are cool, but failed me in one respect

These are great I use them in several ways. I use them in my day planner, journals, gaming books, and as a bookmark. They re-position with ease, yet hold on well no matter which side of the page you are pulling on. I haven't had them damage anything I have put them on to date, removal or otherwise. The base part is transparent and large, so you can see through it, but it isn't so small that it will rip when you pull the tab. Its about 2x the surface area of the tab itself. I really dig these. The one issue I have is that writing on them is a pain, and nothing I have tried really "sticks" to the tab. I am specifically talking about the Metallics version. I haven't tried the others yet. I have tried various ball point, felt tip, razor tip, Sharpie, etc. Some seem to look okay, but fade into the metal really quickly, even if I double write them. The best success I have had is with a medium tip Sharpie, but that is just too fat and looks ugly. You really need a thick ink to keep its shape, then let it dry. The reason I wanted the metallic was to be able to write a nice font on the tab, not a fat sharpie. It just kills the look for the more permanent books I have them in. I don't care some much about the journals. On that note, I will say that I have decided not to write anything on them for journals and day planner. I just know what each color (silver, bronze, gold, copper) is for and use them that way. For my other books, well, I'll just keep trying. Maybe someone out there can recommend a better pen for them. All that said, I will buy these again, as they are just insanely useful, they look great. ... show more

I bought these to add tabbed pages to my classic size Happy Planner. The size of the tab is great, I can fit 4 of them without overlap down the side of a page, or 3 across the top of a page. If you trim off some of the sticky part, you can get 5 down the side and 4 (with only a tiny bit of overlap) across the top. For reference, each tab measures 4.5cm wide, plus an extra cm on each end for the sticky 'wings'. They don't stick out past the cover on the sides, and only a little on the top. I don't take my planner with me when I go out (I take voice notes on my cell phone), but if you do you'll want to store it upright in your briefcase or purse to avoid mangled top tabs. In using them, I've found that I can reposition them easily, yet they offer plenty of hold to allow me to use them to open my planner to a certain page. I don't know how long the adhesive will last, so I'm using them for pages that will last me at least 1 month, like my stitching log and stash lists for fabric, charts and kits. I use plastic or card stock tabbed dividers for tabs that I need to move more often, like my tabbed divider to mark "This Week". ... show more

I had been using various Post-It versions of these for my planner, and because those are plastic, I could only write on them with large sharpie markers which looked clunky and limited what I could fit on a tab. These Avery tabs are SO much better. Because they are hard paper on the tab, I can use any kind of pen without worrying about smearing and they are still stiff and do not curl when I need to put my planner in my bag. I have moved a few around and the plastic sticky end seems to re-stick well. I also like that I can write on both sides. In the future, these will be my go-to brand. ... show more

These are very sturdy and adhere firmly to the page, so you can get a good grip on them when flipping to a page without having to worry about yanking the tab off or ripping the paper underneath. You only get 25, which is rather expensive, but the quality is really excellent. The most important part is that the part that sticks to the page is clear and very slim. As an avid margin-writer, this feature is indispensable, since the tab doesn’t interfere with my reading experience. If you’re looking to be thrifty, these aren’t for you. If you want something that will last awhile and provide minimal distraction so you can be as effective as possible wherever you are, you had better add these to your cart. ... show more

I've moved these ever over and over and they still stick. They are sturdier and tidier than Post-its, the stick-on part is transparent on the page, and the tab part doesn't look ratty after my journal has been riding around in my bag for months. It's weird to extol the virtues of a sticky tab, but if you're looking at this because you're a Bullet Journaler or a DIY planner person, you get it. I use these for my most-referenced long-term pages, and the 1x1.5" ones on current month/week pages, moving them monthly and weekly and they've held up great. (But they do get a little grimy after I've moved them a year of Sundays.) ... show more

Finding tabs for my Bible proved to be an exercise in futility. Not because they were unavailable, but because every tab I found was small - about 1" long, resulting in torn pages when I tried to turn to a new book of the Bible. "Avery Ultra Tabs Repositionable Margin Tabs, Two-Side Writable, 2-1/2" x 1", Metallics, 24 Tabs" solved this frustrating problem quite nicely. The 1 5/8" tabs are long enough to write the full name of each individual book, the removeable tape is 2 1/2" long which helps keep the page from tearing. The tabs are extremely easy to reposition without tearing the pages. The only issue I had was that the ballpoint pen ink smeared if I touched it soon after writing on the metallic tab. I liked these well enough to order two more packs so I could tab every book in one of my study Bibles. If they continue to perform well, I will be ordering several more sets to tab my other study Bibles. ... show more

I bought these tabs to help reorganize some of the files at my work. While the bright colors make a nice, eye-catching way of coding files, I found the tabs came off very easily if they encounter any sort of resistance. Half of my file lost their tabs within the first week, and I had to change to another sort of coding system. With that said, I think if you are using this in a situation where the tabs won't stick out or run into anything, they are ideal for organizing. ... show more
