  • The only thing standing between my kids and full body lizard mode
This stuff? Actual gold in a tub. My kids' skin was on a rotating schedule of red, itchy, chaos. Like they were slowly turning into desert reptiles. Enter Aveeno Eczema Therapy Nighttime lotion: thick, soothing, and somehow magically absorbed by skin that previously rejected moisture like it was an insult. We slap this on before bed and poof, no scratching, no midnight whining, no waking up to kids who look like they lost a fight with a tumbleweed. It’s rich without being greasy, gentle without being useless, and effective enough that I now stockpile it like it’s a blackout essential. ... show more

  • Amazing for Healing Hives; Dry Winter Skin
Broke out in hives last week coupled with winter dry skin and needed medicated and more hydrating balms for my arms and legs. I have mature (over 40), sensitive, acne-prone, congestion-prone, combination skin. But it is less oily in the winter. Earlier last week, I had a nasty allergic reaction to something topical and ended up with contact dermatitis that further evolved into hives. Been taking meds for it but the physical hot flares of hives and discomfort on my legs and arms have been a nuance especially when I am sleeping. I will wake to want to scratch at myself. Thankfully, the flares have been pretty mild but they still itch. I bought a slew of different lotions, balms, medicated creams, and ointments and nothing really took the edge off or hydrated as well as this tub of Aveeno Balm. I absolutely love the texture of the balm version of this as it is thick. Not sure what I can liken it to, but it isn't a lotion or like heavy cream. Nor is it like Vaseline or petroleum. I appreciate glycerine being the first ingredient over water. The slip of this is dense but the application goes on smoothly and is very soothing. I've only used it a couple of times in the last 24 hours since it arrived and it has made a significant difference in my skin. I will be getting this and having it on hand from now on, especially in the winter when the air, and consequently my skin, is drier. It is extremely effective and still gentle. It will absorb into the skin, but I layered it on kinda thick so I had a hint of residue when I went to bed. But I didn't rouse to mindlessly clawing at my legs, so there is that. Who knew oats and glycerine were so healing? I mean, I did but had no idea it would be this nice. It does have a scent, not added. I believe it comes from the oats, which isn't unpleasant or medicinal. Just bland, which is fine with me. I think this would be suitable for use on both body and face, as needed. Affordable. No frills. Effective. ... show more

  • Works well, but Vaseline might be cheaper
I bought the 11oz. jar over 2 years ago and am only halfway through it. Pros: a good light moisturizer, and doesn't irritate my hands. Cons: might be more expensive than Vaseline, plus makes my hands so slippery I can't screw the jar shut afterward. The workaround I use is to wet my fingertips, and dry them off, then I can screw the lid shut. Aveeno is a good, but light, moisturizer; Vaseline stays longer on the skin and might be cheaper. When using Vaseline, immediately after drying your hands, squeeze a pea sized amount of Vaseline onto hands and rub together briskly. Then use a tissue to remove excess Vaseline (so no need to wear cotton gloves afterward). I use squeeze tubes of Vaseline to avoid messiness and to prevent contamination of the remainder. If my hands are excessively dry, at bedtime I smear on Vaseline thickly and wear cotton gloves to bed. CONCLUSION: Both products work well -- I have very bad eczema on my hands. Neither will affect the itching (you need a prescription salve for that). Neither will prevent my eczema, but if I don't moisturize constantly, my eczema gets worse. Vaseline might be cheaper than Aveeno, but I haven't checked. HINT: as my eczema appears to be heaviest where I grip my tablet, I try to wear cotton gloves when handling the tablet. Even this doesn't prevent it entirely (possibly I haven't discovered all the triggers), but I'm Also VERY allergic to nickel, so this may have something to do with it. ... show more

  • So far so good!
I decided to buy this cream based on other reviews. My dermatologist recommended using a lotion in a tub rather than a pump bottle as it is thicker and covers better. I found this product and have used it for a few days. So far I like it very much and makes my skin less itchy and much smoother. The only thing I am not fond of, is that it feels a little greasy even after rubbing it in thoroughly. However, I find it worth it since my skin feels so much better and the price if good compared to other products. I will definitely purchase again. ... show more

  • Amazing moisturizer
The best lotion for dry skin! I'm a lotion connoisseur and cannot stand having dry skin. When I moved up north and my skin wasn't liking the dry winter I had to find a new moisturizer. I don't have eczema but my partner does and this was great for both of us. We use it all year long and you only need to apply it at night to get 24 hours of relief. This is the first item I've set the automatic reorder on because I hate running out. ... show more

  • Love it!
This lotion works amazing on my dry skin. Lovely fragrance, not greasy. I use it every night at bedtime.

  • It works well
This cream is very good! It does like burn when you put it on the first time. For me it only burned for about 5 minutes then stopped. I will say this much, put on a thin layer and it will be absorbed through your skin. The key is a thin layer. If you put on a thick layer it will be greasy/sticky. I put this on overnight on my hands and just overnight my hands looked and felt so much better than they have. Eczema on the hands looks horrible. It’s worse in the winter. I’m consistently washing my hands and they become very dry. I feel like I have crepe skin. This really works for me and overnight. I even wear it during the day. I’m waiting for the treatment cream to come. Hopefully my hands will look much better in the next 3-5 days using both. I highly recommend this cream. Just use a thin layer and yes it will burn a bit. It is worth it! ... show more
