I have wanted to upgrade to LED brake lights for many years, but have heard many negative points on them in the past. LEDs will virtually always last longer than any incandescent bulb, but the problem in the past with the new LED bulbs for automotive applications is that they have not been brighter than the incandescent replacement! Such an LED replacement is completely worthless and defeats the point of upgrading to a newer technology. Well, I recently searched LED tail lights again since I live in a major Metro area and traffic has only gotten worse as development increases and more people get on the roads. It seems that I am always being tailgated by the driver behind me. So having appropriate brake lights is an essential now, not just a "cool" looking upgrade. I bought the AUXLIGHT Red 1156 replacement bulb and literally just installed it and tested it out. It works just as expected from the reviews. At first I thought the 5x strobe effect was excessive and too prolonged as someone else mentioned in a negative review. But when I think about it, the truth is that there is a need for it. Why? Texting and driving. Although, it has been banned and you can be ticketed for texting while driving, needless to say people are still looking at their phones even if they are not texting. Therefore, the 5x strobe effect will get someone's attention even if their eyes were fixated on their phones for a few seconds. The strobe effect lasts for about 5 seconds, which should definitely be enough time to be noticed. Another factor that I considered when replacing my third brake light (high mount brake light) was the fact that a I recently switched my vehicle to a Minivan from a car. Braking in this vehicle takes longer. It is significantly heavier than the vehicle I had previously. Whenever I intend to apply the brakes heavily I will generally tap my brakes in an attempt to notify the person behind that I am going to brake. But with this vehicle I am not afforded the ability to tap my brakes since I have a longer braking distance. Therefore, I have to apply brake force quicker and remain on the brakes longer to stop the minivan before I run into the vehicle ahead of me! I believe notifying the person behind me of a heavy braking situation is not just a matter of courtesy, but safety as well. Me not being able to tap my brakes makes me believe I am more likely going to be rear ended eventually. All in all, I highly recommend these 1156 strobing brake lights. They are awesome and will serve their purpose well. If they last at least a year I will be happy with them. I understand this sort of bulb is a newer technology and you'll have to be willing to be the experimenter before they are consistently manufactured reliably.

wanted to make sure drivers would notice the bikes when we were braking. These are an attention getter. only 4 stars because when the flashing stops, the solid hold brake light is not a whole lot brighter than the running light. I like that the running light is brighter than the previous solution I had been using so its a step up for a decent cost.

Installed these in my 2016 BRP Commander 1000 Tail and Stop lights both blew out with very light usage. These are the correct replacements for the application. Installed like any other tail / stop 1157 bulb. no special tools required or adapters. They looked great, lots of compliments on them. disappointed they just did not last. Leds should last way longer than incandescent imo

Functional and bright. Kind of. First, not much difference between dim/running and bright/brake, but the dim IS brighter than the stock bulb. Second, when they strobe, it's important to note that they flicker between BRIGHT and OFF, not bright and dim. Meaning there's a moment where you have no light at all. Just a heads up. Haven't decided if I'll be keeping this installed or not.
