  • At Best a Glorified White Paper on Content Marketing
Was excited about this book. But wow, it was very disappointing. Here is the entire book summary: A) There are a lot of advantages of being an authority in your field. About 2/3 of the book exhausts this point. Here's the gist: If you do it right, it has a lot of benefits. Problem is, there is absolutely no blueprints, tips, or methods to do it right within this book. B) It all starts with writing a book and being published. Seems to me most know this instinctively. Once again, there is zero tips, strategies, or anything to help you with this huge goal. The authors make writing a book and getting published seem so easy. Once again, there are no tips how to do this. C) You have to have an "omnipresent" marketing strategy which includes content, PR, and speaking. Once again, there is 100% advice on how to do this D) To be successful you have to authentically want to help people. This is true and an important to remember. There are far better books on this topic than this one. But a word of warning: They all the same things which is basically: - Go into authority building with a genuine helpful mindset - Write a book - Create content on your Blog, YouTube, and Social Media. Everyone knows this and it is an absolute bottomless pit of work. Benefits are great, but it is a TON of work. Most gurus don't tell you this or they gloss over how hard it really is. - Engage in speaking engagements if you're comfortable Good luck but definitely pass this one up. There are others that are better if you're new to this. Or, just do a search and you can piece it together yourself. ... show more

  • Quite compelling
The title, Authority Marketing: How to Leverage 7 Pillars of Thought Leadership to Make Competition Irrelevant, makes some pretty big promises, and I was curious to see if the book could deliver. After reading the summary I wasn't sure what to think, my initial reaction to it was that it was long and it was demanding, but based on the reviews I went ahead and purchased the book. Plus, I liked that Steve Forbes wrote the forward. I had thought the book would be as aggressive as the description and as in your face, but the truth is the book has a softer, more easily read tone. It is far from mild, the two authors, Adam Witty and Rusty Shelton, are straightforward, which I appreciate. The book does not dwell on irrelevant personal stories, nor does it take off on tangents. It is very organized and easy to follow. The language used in the book isn't saturated in industry lingo and instead is written for all levels, whether you're new to the business world or a veteran CEO. The book for lack of a better term is inspiring and makes the reader feel like they want to start implementing these new habits ASAP. ... show more

  • Great marketing help
If you’re currently dealing with some downtime due to self-isolation and you want to learn how to get your business out there, whether you’ve established it or not, then this is a great book to pick up. It won’t take you a long time to get through it, but there are so many insightful things that will help you come out of the economic lull flying. The authors write in a way that is helpful instead of being condescending, which makes it a lot easier to follow the advice. The marketing tips are something just about anyone can follow through with too, which is incredibly important when it comes down to it. You will certainly want to go over the book a few times though and take notes, because the advice is something you’ll want to work with slowly until you get comfortable with it. ... show more

  • Quite complete and to the point
I have recently tried to call on my entrepreneurial bug, basically to see if there is any. I have partnered with this guy who definitely has a broader vision than I have when it comes to business. But then, if we are to launch what we have in mind, I was guessing that competition will be something we will face. Funny enough, as I was going through the description of Authority Marketing, I basically did not check at least the first four questions. Am I an authority in my field? No. Am I a standout thought leader, etc? Definitely not. All I have for now is what it takes. So, instead of chickening out on this one, I decided to go full head. The book is short either way, but then I found many, uhm I'll call them, wisdom pearls. The way the sever pillars are presented with your business in mind. If you want to make your business thrive, you should make yourself a benchmark on what you do, so that whoever listens to you, recognizes you as such. If you are treading on marketing grounds only recently or you are a seasoned one, I still recommend this book to yours. It'll give you interesting insight on what authority marketing should be about. ... show more

  • An effective and valuable tool to have on your desk.
When it comes to leadership, there are some important points that people should bear in mind. The book called “Authority Marketing: How to Leverage 7 pillars of thought Leadership to Make Competition Irrelevant” written by Adam Witty and Rusty Shelton is very informative and useful to explain what is necessary to become the “Authority” in your own field. I would like to quote that I think is considerable important to consider: “In today's environment, leadership is amplified by authority and there is no room in this world for uncertain leadership”. So, it is here where anyone must work on. In this book, you will find lots of illustrative examples and wise pieces of advice to understand more what is essential to turn into an excellent Leader or the Authority. Leaders must strive to build credibility and trustworthy expertise in their fields. All in all, it is a well-explained and illustrative book and I believe it is a gem for anyone who is in charge. I found this reading quite absorbing and interesting. It is a must-read book! ... show more
